Default Just Bought My second Miata. (Turbo)

Hi my name is Allen, I’m 24, and I live in Austin, TX. I am a full time student and have two jobs. I graduated from Texas State Technical College with 2 associates degrees in automotive and Toyota specific. I am also ASE master certified. Since then I have been going to community college for credits towards my bachelor's degree in business from Texas State which I will be doing next semester.

Now on to the cars.
My DD is a 2004 Audi A4 which is lowered on STaSIS coilovers and Cargraphic wheels, APR chip, Evolution Motorsport intake and full custom exhaust.
As nice as it is, it’s not a lot of fun to drive, hence the Miata’s.

The first Miata was bought about 2 years ago from a guy stationed at Ft. Hood. He was being deployed back to Iraq and had no space for his project car, a 1997 Miata. He had plans of turboing the car so it has a forged motor with stock bore and stroke and 9:1 Wiseco pistons and a head off a ’99. The car also came with brembo rotors (stock size) and Hawk pads, Tein coilovers, and st rear sway bar all brand new in box. The catch is the motor was in short block form and I had never worked on a Miata before. Since a lot of bolts were missing I bought 60 lbs worth off eBay for 40 shipped, and began piecing the car back together. After about 3 weeks of trial and error with bolts the car started with no problems. After 300 miles I put the rest of the parts on and it was by far the most fun car I had ever driven. Now it was time for a turbo, right? Wrong. 778 miles after the new motor my friend (a very good and trustworthy one) was driving down the road minding his own business when a lady decided me having a Miata was not a good idea pulled out in front of him totaling my car. I bought the car back from the insurance company, and to my surprise the car started. The whole front was gone and the airbags had deployed, but it didn’t hurt the motor. So now onto Miata number 2.
I just bought the second miata about a week ago from this guy https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo-discussion-14/1996-1-8-pinging-when-hot-full-boost-46778/ . So now to the question, I want a bandaids car to hold me over till I get married in Febuary which at that time I will be doing a twin scroll gt30 and hydra, so I don’t want to waste money on MS. What do I need in addition to what is already on the car plus,
My forged motor from car # 1
Wideband
O2 clamp
Ditch MSD and go bipes
Larger injectors (what size)
I am looking for about 225-250 whp.

Thanks for all the info on this site it has helped me out a lot.
Also the first car will be parted out if anyone is interested in the stock parts.
I will post it up in a couple days.

Personally Hydra is crap. Go with AEM or Megasquirt. As far as hitting 225-250, a twin scroll gt30 is kind of too big for that power goal. You can quite easily hit 225-250 with a 2860, 460 or 550cc injectors, a boost controller, and a dual feed fuel rail. Just don't even bother doing band aids like 02 clamp. Do it right.

Sorry I didnt make it clear. It already has a FM1 turbo kit with a t28, and that is the setup i want to use for now (with bandaids) to get to my goal of 225-250. When I go twin scroll Gt30 my power goals will be much higher. For that im set on the turbo, but on the fence on which ecu to run, so maby not Hydra. Getting married is expensive and I wont have a lot of money untill Feb, therefor bandaids is the only way to go for now. Any advice on what injectors to use would be helpfull as I cant find any info on bigger injectors with bandaids.
I currently have:
T28
Dual fuel pumps
rebuilt fmu
msd, but converting to bipes
front mount

(price for MSPNP) < (price for 'decent' band-aids)

lol, getting married is only expensive if you make it that way. My wedding cost less then $3000 including venue, food, dress & tuxedo. I think it's foolish to spend a crazy amount of money for just one night. If your wedding is going to be the best night of your life, you're going to have a pretty awful marriage. Why start high and just go low from there?

Anyways, just my 2 cents

MS is 500 (if less show me where)

If I sell my
MSD - 100
FMU - 175
I will spend an extra 225 on MS

All I (think) I need is an o2 clamp and swap msd for bipes.
Sell MSD - 100
buy bipes- 150
buy o2 clamp 60
That's only 110
regardless I need a WB

Dude, that car is way to nice to cheap out on EMS now.

Seriously, spend the extra 100$ for megasquirt, and enjoy a car that runs as well as it looks.

In case anyone was curious, this is what a hole in a piston looks like.
