Default new guy from NM

hi, the name's Colin and obviously i'm new. i'm based in New Mexico, go to school at NMT in socorro. i've got a 99 miata i'm thinking about adding boost to. i have left over parts from a failed honda civic project so i'm going to use most of those for my new project.

goals for this project are 190 - 200 something hp, reliable, on a budget.

basic list of current parts includes
t3 60 trim turbo,
tial 38mm wastegate, (8 psi spring)
misc piping and oil lines,
gauges,
an intercooler which might be to big
greddy RS BOV. with the MS it can vent to atmosphere i think.

parts i know i'll need

megasquirt, ms2 to avoid the CAS problem
manifold, probably begi
downpipe, i'll probably try and fab my own with stuff in the shop and old civic dp
clutch
radiator
oil feed from block

questionable...

injectors? i have 1st gen dsm injectors, and access to 550 300zx injectors ( i have a feeling neither set will fit)
wideband 02?
fuel pump (have walbro 255 from civic)

i'm currently searching around and learning as i go so i may find answers to my current questions and questions i don't know i have.

Nice first post, it looks like you've done your homework better than just about any NOOB I've ever seen. WELL DONE!

Those injectors won't work. Check the "DIY FAQ" in the DIY FORUM for a list of PnP compatible injectors. You'll probably want some Rx7 550's.

With that T3 and a '99, no reason to shoot for about 250whp at 15psi. 200whp will be easy at around 10psi... maybe less depending on your exhaust.

Welcome to the forum. I just boosted my 99', and I can tell you, it's NICE! Looks like a pretty good list of stuff. As for the wideband, YES, you want one. I've been running an Innovate LC-1 for a year and it's worked fine. Just have to follow the directions when wiring it up and it's trouble free. And another "yes" to getting a 255 fuel pump. Stocker sucks on a 99'.

arroyo seca much? I recommend NM152 through the Gila Forest to Silver city. 300+ turns over 20-miles or so...just don't fall off. It made the brakes smoke in my Rav4.

Since you're on a budget look into the JAW wideband. Cheap and has been working great for me. People have gotten it to work with MS too.

Welcome! +1 On the wbo2, and the stock pump will work fine unless it is in questionable condition.

Woot more people in NM, not long before we can have a NM turbo miata meet, all 4 of us could show.

There's several turbo and supercharged miatas in Abq, and Los Lunas, few of them ever make it out to the road course or play around on the internets.

I want to run from santa fe to angelfire in my miata. Driving that SUV through the mountains caused me great pain.

The enchanted circle is awesome, and the downhill side of the canyon to Angelfire has a really tight section that is fun. Quite a few canyons to chose from up here..

I'm planning on making it to the track as much as possible if everything works out this year.

I ******* hate it when NOOBs start a thread, get a ****-ton of feedback, are clearly logging on, and don't respond to their own threads.

I would try to make a Miata meet in NM if I was given enough heads up. I might even be boosted if its in the spring. I am closer to the NM crew than the TX crew.

thanks for the warm welcome. its awesome to see some NM people. a meet would be fun, but my car wont' be boosted for quite a while, at the moment i'm just researching and picking parts.

Hustler: i have been to ASR, once. it was so much fun on stock power i can't wait to be boosted! i'm planning on being there for at least the 2 day events this year.

Welcome Wonk Unit!
I just found this thread. I'm in Las Cruces. I regularly race at ASR and I'd definitely be in for a NM meet. There's a local forum called crucesstreets.com that has all the info for events at ASR.

Thanks! Dang, if I'd known who you were, I would have given you a ride-along on the track. My best time at ASR is 1:19.8
