Default New here, NYC area

Hey all. My name's George. I find myself here a lot lately due to Google searches so I figured I might as well introduce myself. I've got a 93 Miata I bought 3 years ago and have been autocrossing various cars for the past 15 years or so and started getting back into HPDE a couple years ago (which is the main reason I finally got a Miata).

I've always worked on my own cars, but have gotten more in depth with my Miata than anything I've owned before. I love the simplicity of everything. Last year I swapped in a 99 motor using the stock ecu and all the 1.6 sensors, etc. It's been running great, but has been burning oil so I picked up a VVT motor and decided to go with a standalone ecu to run it instead of the stock ecu based on what I've been reading here and other forums.

Seems like there is more knowledge here on ecu tuning than over at Miata.net. My searches for ecu info is actually what has been bringing me here lately. I'm hoping I can get this setup running as painlessly as possible with the help of the knowledgebase here. The original swap was a piece of cake, but my head is spinning faster and faster the more I read about ecu setup, especially the tuning part.

In any case, I know an introductory post is meaningless without pics, so here you go

As it was the day I got it

and now. I've since disabled the LED running lights.

A few interior upgrades as well

Hahahaha.

Welcome aboard, wkndracr. Dafuq are you doing with a Miata in the city?

(Wherein I presume you are taking an extremely liberal interpretation, ie: Bumfuck, Queens, right on the outer edge of MTA territory.)

I'm not ashamed to admit that I've been car-less for some time now, and get far more action out of my Citibike key and Zipcard than I ever would from any Mazda.

Joe nailed it. I actually live in Yonkers, about a block away from the Bronx. My car does see plenty of city duty, though. It fits almost anywhere. Here is an example:

The steering wheel is from a Mazda 6. I wanted to replace the worn out NA wheel and found a good deal on ebay. The audio controls work too!
