Talking New guy with a 99 FM II and stuff in San Diego

Greetings,

I have a 99 Miata with an FMII, Hard Dog Hard Core roll bar, FM Happy Meal clutch and flywheel, Crossflow radiator, Airflow Kit, injectors... ~ 93K miles. Not sure of the package, does have leather, crappy Bose stereo, power windows (Had AC.. AC hardware still installed)... Does not have ABS. My car is white, with "teeth" that were available years ago... My most recent upgrades were the FM metal oil and coolant lines and cross flow rad with airflow kit. I had that stuff installed here in San Diego at Rocky's Miatamotive.

I've owned the car since ~ 2006 and have upgraded it over the years. It was my third car for the bulk of the time, and now it's one of two. My wife's MB R350 thing and my Miata...

I'm in San Diego, Ca, and will be PCS'ing to the Hampton Roads area this summer. My wife and I plan to drive our two cars during the trip.

About myself.. I'm mid 30's, with a few kids and mortgage blah blah.. I fly in the Navy, and have done so for about 14 years. Sold my other car (335i) a few months ago because it seemed to be in the shop too often, and the certified pre-owned warranty was about to expire.

My near term goals for the car are to keep it reasonably reliable, considering the impending cross country drive. It's been mostly reliable for years, the exception being an old rubber coolant line that ruptured about a month ago, prompting the upgrade to the metal lines that I referenced above.

I've been messing with the Hydra (2.7) as of late... I have an AEM WBO2 sensor / gauge to help me keep tabs on what's going on in the exhaust flow, and appearances are that it tends to go way rich (10.0 pegged) under boost... I need to get it to a shop to determine whether the AEM is off, the Hydra is really driving it rich, or maybe my target boost settings are off. I am tinkering with the AFR target settings, and think I'm heading in the right direction.

My power goals... Hard to say. I want to keep from annihilating my transmission, although that may be inevitable because my intended mechanical empathy towards the XMSN goes out the window from time to time... Maybe ~ 250 RWHP would be nice, which should be within reach with a good tune I imagine.

Longer term... Hard to say, maybe V8 some day down the line?? I'm in no hurry for that though.

I'll post some pictures of my (Dirty) car later.

Cheers,
Roger
