Default N00B from Bremerton, WA

Hello everyone. My name is Neal from Bremerton, WA.

New to Miatas, new to the forums, pretty new to doing car stuff in general. I was into racing bikes but had to stop (for now) due to injury so I had to find something else to spend my energy and money on.

Got a high mileage, but good condition, 1995 Miata M Edition recently. I haven't done much in the ways of modifications, but it came with a Jackson Racing CAI and of course the ever popular BBS 15" wheels. I plan to get into AutoX, maybe real racing someday. From what I can tell, there is a lot of racing and whatnot in these parts.

Planned upgrades:
- FM Stage 1 clutch and lightweight flywheel Happy Meal (clutch died on a road trip, already bought)
- 2.5" cat back exhaust (already bought)
- Tires
- FM VMaxx coilovers (currently sitting HIGH at 14.5")
- Proper alignment
- MSPNP Pro
- PNP Injectors at least 400cc
- (if high mileage 1.8 dies) swap in 2001+ VVT motor
- FM DIY turbo kit

I want to get around 200whp to start with on the turbo, and we'll see where it goes from there.

Hey, welcome. I'm in Black Diamond, so if you ever want a hand wrenching, let me know. Always fun to meet locals with the same Miata hobby.

Thanks, Dann0. I may have to take you up on that offer, as I've never done a clutch job before. I would, of course, supply the beer.

Today I replaced my clutch master and slave cylinders and installed the curly Q delete hose from Emilio.

Welcome!

Yes there are lots of us in Oregon and Washington, mostly the PDX/Vancouver and Seattle areas.

I've dealt with one JR CAI, it shattered when you looked at it, and destroyed a 1.6 after the AFM nut backed out and the engine ate it.

Yikes. Yeah so far it's been a pain in the *** to work with/around, but I'll probably leave it in until I get a turbo.

I'll have to double check to make sure those bolts are tight too. Don't want to feed my engine any metal.

By the way, I'll be posting all of the "work" done on my car in this thread, so if the mods care a bunch about thread categories, feel free to move me on over to the build section. I try to take pictures of everything I do, but sometimes I forget.
