Default New Philadelphian, not new to Miatas 56k grab lunch

Hello all, my name is Alex and I have a 2004 Miata. Just thought I would join up here and say hi to you all and see what the deal was with the site, hopefully I will be sticking around for a while.

Here are a few snaps of my car, I will try to be chronological with them and work a little cheesy story in.

Bought it from a dealer that I work for on 6/4/08
On our lot:

Of course I had to take some better pictures

My original plan was to first pay off the car and then mod it lightly...took about 3 weeks for that to get thrown out of the window.

A month later I had this stuff at my door and installed it with a friend over the course of 2 days.

FM Intake Kit

Stewart Warner 15psi/30hg Boost/Vaccum Gauge

That cured my itch for a few months until FM had their 25 year anniversary sale so I picked up this amazing stuff!

A friend was nice enough to help me work on it all in his garage and of course helped...many LOLs were had

Here is one of me, confused by what I was holding in my hand (I later found out it was a wrench)

And here is my buddy sam working at the suspension

And a little video from the ordeal

YouTube - Mazdaspeed Miata work

The following week we went on a performance run, it was a blast, you can see a few glimpses of my car in it.

YouTube - The First Annual Autumn Endurance Run 10/12/08

I was content with that for a little while, and meanwhile had bought Hawk HPS pads for 4 corners to install later on (just did them on sunday). Then I met a curb, we had a disagreement, and the curb won leaving me with 2 bent wheels, a shot alignment, and something bent that we can't quite trace but the car aligned fine and we decided to leave it alone for now. Needless to say I was pretty pissed, and I missed the first winter SOLO event.

Ended up snagging some aftermarket wheels instead of stockers. This is the last shot I have of the car pre-accident

And here she is now, sitting on 16x7 +35 BBS RK wheels.

Also had the exhaust shop take out my muffler and resonator and fill the sections in...sounds oh-so-juicy!

So that's where my car sits now, I've got an autocross coming up on Sunday that I'm excited about and I'll have media from that as well. Here are a few fun pictures.

And for the sake of fun, here are my previous cars.

First was a 1990 Pontiac 6000LE (thanks dad!)

Second was a 1998 Dodge Neon Sport (nothing sporty about a 3 speed automatic)...I should have probbably just circled the whole car.

And my last piece of rice, 2001 Honda Civic LX

This one might not look so bad till you come around the back...what was I thinking?!

A close-up in case you missed it.

Hey, I guess we all grow up sometime right . Anyway that's my car and my previous burners, hopefully I'll find some reason to stick around here.

Future plans for the Miata:
Rollbar
Downpipe
Driver Mod (too bad I can't buy this one)

That's a great first post NOOB. Be sure to put your location in your profile so people know what town you live in, and put short writeup of your car in your signature. Welcome!

Already on them. LVMOC doesn't have events going right now, at least I don't think they do, and miatamob lets you know about their events last minute which I can't stand so I don't bother with them anymore.

Hey noob; I'm impressed. Great first post!

Nice car. Sorry but I'm too old so I don't dig the black wheels but otherwise, everything is looking good.

Here is another one from a few minutes ago. It's really sad that that garage behind my mom's Rav4 is full of junk. Plywood, old paint buckets, and general trash they refuse to get rid of, could be keeping my car comfortable.

I'll trade a garage kept 1990 1.6, no rust, and give your car a happy home

Welcome Alex. I like how the civic exhaust steps up a full inch at the rear hub. Good pie cut practice.

Are you on the TST forums as well? I think I've seen the car over there.

Have fun in the snow tomorrow!

You mentioned something else got bent when you hit a curb and you haven't tracked it down. What makes you think something else is damaged on the car? I would have said check the alignment bolts for and bends, but you said it aligned fine.

The wheel that was hit sits slightly more forward than the one on the other side...I can fit 2 fingers in the good side and I can only get 2 fingers in halfway on the bad side, granted it's not a huge difference but it's still there. We don't know for sure so decided not to throw parts at the car and leave it alone until it's done.
