Default New from Canada

Hi All,

I have been lurking for a little while and I recently purchased my second NA. I had plans to build the first one, but after stripping it down I discovered its too far rusted to try to save. I cut my losses and bought a 1990 Mazda Eunos.

The car came with a Megan racing t25 manifold and downpipe but after doing some research the Mitsubishi turbo is not the turbo I want to run. I have a good condition Nissan S13 SR20 Turbo that I want to use for this car so I am here to research and learn. I prefer to build my own kit then buy my own and I may start a build thread once the process starts.

Some pictures how she currently sits:

Nice clean Miata. Looks like a good platform to start with.

How are you insuring the RHD in Ontario?

Atleast youve got it insured. Ive had friends had lots of trouble (mostly skylines...figures)

There are a few Ontarians around. Any plans to hit Mosport or Cayuga?

Since I have a clean driving record and a second primary car, there is no complications for me to get insurance. There might be plans to do that in the future. Do you take your car to the track?

Well i guess that would do it. I havent attempted it myself so i have no real idea.

I have been to Cayuga but this year I'm planning to go more. Im builing a 93 Track Car for myself and my Dad has a 90 himself that he takes sometimes. I have a build thread on CR (not on here until i go boost) if your interested in looking just PM me

Welcome James!

Cayuga's a great track to learn on. Completely flat with safe run offs if you need it.

DDT is what I would consider the next step since it's smaller but with lots of elevation change.

If the car's working great as of now I'd highly recommend getting it out to Cayuga this season just to get a feel for how it is now and to have a baseline reference before you start modding.

Bottom line though, I'm sure you'll have no shortage of fun. Not sure where you're located. I'm over in KW area.

Neil, does your dad happen to have a red '90 with 6uls?

Oh ok cool I'll have to look out for it whenever I'm out this season.

Yeah there's mosport DDT and the big GP track. DDT is a ton of fun with the elevation change but maybe just my personal preference too.

Hi rkim,

I used to go to dunville's track all the time when I owned my 240sx and had a great time there. My current car will be driven without a turbo for at least a year before I start to do anything.

I am located in Hamilton.

Not a bad looking car, do you mind saying how much total to import? I have a friend that's looking to get a miata and importation is something he's considering.

I think you're on the right track leaving it stock for a while, do your ems and injectors etc first so you're sure they're track reliable before boost.

Welcome, hope to see you around.

The car was imported 3 years ago and I am the second owner since in Canada. I have seen them for sale at places like Tiger Japanese starting at about $4000.

Do any local members meet during the summer? I have seen things happening at Dave's Garage before but I have yet to go to anything.

There was a thing that m.net people were trying to start on Friday the 13th in St.Thomas (like Dover bike day), there's a thread in the Canada section.

You have Toronto clubs fairly nearby (miataphiles, trillium), London has a club, there may be a club in Hamilton. It depends on the crowd you are looking for. I hang out with some local people but not a specific club.

JamesS I'm pretty sure I've met you before! I used to have a black s13 coupe and at one point I believe I picked up stainless brake lines from you in Hamilton. I think you had a green s14 zenki at the time.

Same James I'm thinking of?

Yes that is me surprised you remember that. I sold the s14 a couple years ago, had a Genesis Coupe for a while and now I have been trying to get a good Miata. The one I originally bought is so badly rusted I cut my losses with it. I even built a rotisserie to fix all the rust but the further I went into the car the worse it got :(

No way crazy haha. Yeah I have no idea how I remembered that too. Small world eh.

Sucks about the other Miata but this one looks promising. Have a friend in town who has a silver Eunos too.
