Default sup fellas!

So I've been searching this site for a while reading and learning tons of stuff.

Now that i pulled my motor recently i figured i should actually make an account in case i need some help that i cant search for lol

I'll try my best to use proper grammar an not be a newb buuut no promises first project car and first engine build

Just to make sure this is not where i start a build thread, right? That belongs in general miata chat, correct?

Build threads go in the build threads section.

This thread is for making fun of your wheels introductions.

What year is it?

What are your plans for the little guy?

Why did you pull the motor?

Welcome.

The miata is 1.6 92 with 226K. I had bad valve seals and am prepping for a turbo of course, so i yanked it out and tore it down.
I'm picking out what pistons i wanna use and all that stuff.

I'll start a build thread once i have a little more to show off.

I would like to suggest that you will probably regret rebuilding a 1.6 when you could very cheaply find a 1.8 that would cost just as much (or probably less due to economies of scale) to rebuild than the 1.6, while still being a cheap and easy drop-in to your current car.

The regret will not kick in until you have finished building the 1.6, have installed and tuned a turbocharger, and decide that you want to start upgrading the system. At that point, the cost of replacing with a built 1.8 will be in the thousands of dollars in addition to the time to pull the 1.6 and reinstall the 1.8. Today, with the 1.6 already out of the car, the additional costs of installing the 1.8 are in the hundreds - as in "500 for a rebuildable 1.8, and $200 for a kit to do the conversion."

Yeah I know a 1.8 is a better base and everybody on here says 1.8 or gtfo but for my power goal (maybe reach 200hp) I think it will do just fine and have seen 1.6's do lots more... online that is.

I just want a lowered classy lookin Miata with a good punch cause its hard to even merge onto highways around here in NY with the stock motor lol

Sure at some point its possible i'll want moar power! but then i'll get another project lmao I just wanna put a bit of money in it to keep it strong and long lasting and then a nice quality kit.
