Default Az noob

Greetings from AZ.

Well let’s see if I can explain the events that led up to me looking at-for a turbo Miata.
A few months back I was sitting in the staging lanes at my local drag strip….sitting 2-3 hours for a 10-11 second run in my Chevy powered Mustang and said “F” this and that night started pulling the car apart! The Mustang was soon sold as a roller and I had my 355 race engine, TH350 trans and an 8.8 built rear sitting on the garage floor.
The new plan was to build a rat rod, well that was short lived after I had a chance to do a ride and drive event at Bondurant. That was my first time on a road race track….well I was hooked. Now….what kind of car??? Started looking at C4 Vettes. Figured I could use my 355 in one. I have lots of spare parts ect… Well I can’t seem to “fall” for the vette idea.
I started looking on YouTube at road race vids and noticed the Miata’s look like a hell of a lot of fun! Now I am like….500+ hp 355 in a little car like a Miata = FUN. After coming to my senses I am thinking maybe my engine is a little to much for a fun street/track car.
That brings me to turboing a Miata .

My (and wife’s) other toys are..

1998 Z-28 vert
1996 Supra NA-T 62-1 Turbonetics turbo.
1996 Celica-driver
2000 Tundra-driver

So now I have lots of learning to do about turbo Miata’s and decide if that’s the path I want to take…..sure looks like a fun path.

Here are a few pics of my toys including the Stang..RIP

Hiya. Got a few guys on here down in Tuscon, and I know there's a guy down there with an LS6 in his Miata as well.

I want your supra. By far in my opinoin the best looking car ever. For now I'll stick with my mini supra miata until I can get a real one. Nice cars and a turbo miata still has the fun factor that the other cars have trust me.

Welcome to the MTF! Turbos do quite well in the Miata, but having had one, I really like the grunt & roar of a good ol' 'Murican V8.

I know of three other V8s in AZ besides mine, a cammed up LS3 here in Tucson, a well built LS2 in Prescott and a SBF in Casa Grande. Where's the fella with the LS6 living?

It puts the v8 on the Miata or else it gets the hose.

Nice looking toys. Welcome.

though i'm 19, and have a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 as my toy, with zero hands-on experience with miatas.

Wanna learn all i can and have a miata as a project myself :], cool to see some Tucsonians!

He might not have an LS6, I really don't know. Thought it was though. I think it's Laguna Blue, in Tuscon. NA.

Going to Tuscon this Sunday, picking up my VVT engine.

That car looks familiar and I knew the screen name from somewhere. I was pretty good friends with Tony back in the day....haven't really heard or talked with any of them since I moved up to Seattle. I've definitely changed my taste in racing over the past few years. Anyways, welcome.
