whats up fellas! getting back into the scene with my 1992 mazda miata. got some major plans already in the works.

already gathering major components for my rebuild, I have already gathered the Cometic metal head gasket, Cometic full gasket set, F1 Stage 1 clutch and lightened flywheel, ACL race bearings, Raceland Header, 2.5in Bosal exhaust, and Wisco Pistons. more in the works.

planning to get ready for a turbo build sooner or later. still got some other stuff on its way.

nice to getting back to my roots.

thanks for the cool site as well. lots of good info.

welcome.

why are you doing the header and 2.5 exhaust if you're planning on going turbo later? they will net you next to nothing and are a waste of money on an n/a car.

also I see no rods in that list. you're rebuilding engine and not replacing the most important thing when turboing a miata?

For what you are wasting on a header... you could start buying stuff like my DIY turbo kit components

I hope you like changing out clutches. I guarantee that that "stage 1" clutch will fail hard under any kind of serious power or abuse. Do yourself a favor and spring for the 6 puck at least. I'm pretty sure its cheaper too.

Welcome. There is a lot to read. Also wondering why no rods, but instead non-turbo parts?

i do plan on changing the rods, M tuned ones to be exact. i been waiting on the GB for awhile now.

i have a major parts list to my rebuild.

pritty much broke it all down. replacing pritty much everything. valves, pistons, rods, lifters, etc.

im not looking for huge gains from my car, just a reliable car. im not planning on selling it anytime soon. car runs really well.

my clutch now feels spongy. so i bought it on cr.net for like $150 bucks.

im saving up for the exedy 2 puck clutch. me and dad put a 3 puck on our Evo, it works wonderful.

perfect engagement. I've been saving up for my build over 6 months now. just a little bit short right now for what i want.

i do have rods planned, m tuned.

i was planning to do all the major upgrades without the turbos. Piston/Rods, aluminum radiator, Exedy clutch/flywheel, mishimoto oil cooler, etc.

is this a good idea? i can only afford to buy parts slowly. sooner or later ill get it done though.

well, when you blow up your clutch, check out the F1 stage 3. Just installed it on my miata project, and it's awesome. It's a 6 puck ceramic and just a few bucks more. Just make sure you get it off 989's site. They ship hella fast.

I'm curious what you have done to your evo... (I have a IX myself)

i was planning on getting the stage 3 clutch. maybe later on?

me and the old man been building our evo 8 for about 2 years now. since i blew the 2nd gear syncro through the bell housing, blew a hole the size of my fist through it.

So far we've done.
HKS F-Con Pro
AMS 2.3 stroker kit
AMS Gt42R turbo
Manly Rods
JE pistons
AMS intake manifold
Dual walbaro 255 fuel pumps with steel braided fuel lines.
hks 272 cams with valves and retainers
hks 3 in down pipe, no cat, and carbon TI exhaust.
Mishimoto dual radiator
hks intercooler
full AC still connected.

thats all the stuff i can think of off the top of my head. its still being tuned, we have it tuned on c-16, we want to get it more streetable, so maybe we can try different settings on 100 and 91 octane. will see though.

what you got done to your evo?

are you on EvoM?

I have said parts;

Mynes custom equal length turbo mani
Garrett GT3076R
Tail 44m wastegate
Halman MBC
ETS intercooler kit
Battery re-locate kit
Precission 880cc injectors
Cosworth 272 cams
Cosworth Titanium valves
Costworth springs
port/polished head
stock bottom end
HKS carbon TI exhaust
Tien progressive springs
Work Emotion rims
Defi gauges everywhere (exhaust and water temp, oil pressure, boost gauge)
Greddy turbo timer
Exedy Twin Plate HD clutch
Exedy aluminum flywheel

It's a SSL IX, and I still track it with full interior blasting death metal to upset the slow old guys in vettes. Last 1/4 track time i did the car was putting down mid 12s all night long, but the tires are cheapo and could get traction, resulting in 1.92 60 footers. New tires and a good ol E85 tune, I should be sitting at mid 11s. Currently sitting at/around 450awhp. I'm expecting 500+ after the E85. My tuner is runing the same setup and is getting 590awhp with 34psi on E85. If I'm anywhere near there, I'll be happy.
