Hey! Locost guy here!
Hey, I joined because I'm building a locost project and you miata guys have similar interests. Small car, high(ish) power, roadster. Love it. I've been stocking up on some miata parts, built me a frame, and about to mount the rear subframe from a 94 miata! Looking forward to learning alot from you guys and hearing your ideas.

I got all of the fab work done and was driving one of my donor Miatas back and forth to work. The weather was crappy, it was raining and I wondered how much good weather that I would actually have to drive a permanently topless car in Nebraska. So, I sold it, bought a nice 99 Miata, turboed it, had fun, stripped everything off and sold it and started a V8 Miata. It should be done in a couple of months.

Sounds like we have a lot in common then. This locost I'm building is actually v8 powered (5.0 302), and I'm using a miata rear subframe and fabbing a tbird rear end to it. I've actually got a torsen chunk I'm thinking about getting rid of because I'm not going to use it. It happened to come with the rear subframe.

*waits for posts of "how much for Torsen chunk*
Well, if you want to look into putting a 8.8 IRS into a Miata subframe, look at my CURRENT build log. https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t40520/ starting around Post #40

You might want to look at this thread for hints on cheap axle/CV units. 8.8 rear end conversion axle measurements - MX-5 Miata Forum

Cheap axles eh? Didn't know such a thing existed. I have the means to make some, both on my own and around Bowling Green (people are 100% car crazy here), but I worried about people and their craftsmanship. Last thing I want to do is pay a ton of money and get shoddy stuff that I could have made myself. Got any specific recommendations?
Sounds like this forum gets a lot of locosters from time to time.
