Smile Noob here on Miata Turbo

Hello fellow Miata and BP lovers!
I'm new here to the site but not to the BP engine or to forums.
I've had my 99 Miata for about 4 years and i'I've been rocking Proteges for over 8 years now.

figured I would post up a picture and say HI to everyone

I'd wager he's serious, and so am I. It's a nice Protege. I could say something about the black wheels, but that's a personal preferance. Many around here have a passion for old Japanese cars.

Proteges make awesome daily drivers. One of the few cars i'd consider replacing my MX6 with.

Welcome!

This is actually my 4th BG protege.

Thanks for the compliments. It has it fair share or rust though. We all know chicago turns cars into rust buckets :-(

the only reason they're black is because they were free and i'm to lazy to rip the tires off to powder coat them lol

I do not understand the hardons for bog-standard Proteges, but to each their own.

Welcome!

Welcome!

What other kind would we have a hardon for? The Mazdaspeed Protege? That thing is a pile of ****.

I'll take a 91-94 LX or a P5, thanks.

Love my p5. It somehow manages to make a 4 door wagon feel like a much smaller, great handling car. I can throw it around like a Miata and it doesn't complain.

Ah so you like glass drivetrains with tons of NLA parts (BF 323GTX) and a nearly impossible to find BG bog standard hatch.

Wanna see my Protege? It sucks.

WTF is that, a KL swap?

I just think the 323 gtx's are cool and the regular protege sedans don't do anything for me. Whatever, to each their own. I drive a pig, remember?

Yeah, KL swap. And other things. It's got a bit wider track than an Escort normally does at this point. It has Escort body panels and interior panels, that's about it.

Seems i may inadvertently have a "thing" for shitty FWD red Mazdas.

I'm parting that car out, though. OP should buy all my stuff and put it on/in his Protege.

Pretty sure the car is cursed. I haven't driven it yet, spent over 2 years building it, only to have the first motor only last about 10 minutes of idling before it blew up. (Buddy installed cam caps in the wrong order) I'm just really not into it anymore. I'm going to lose my *** on it, but it's not killing me to not race it at this point, and it's probably not much good as a street car. It was built to completely dominate the SCCA SMF class with a good driver. To the best of my knowledge, no other SMF build has taken full advantage of the rules like this car has.

Sucks to not see it through, but i need less complication in my life at this point.

Mostly stock KL. ZE bottom end, slightly skimmed heads, CZT 218 race cams, Interprep valve springs, oval port Millenia heads. Custom Gixxer 1000 ITB setup with Kinsler linkage and Factory Pro velocity stacks. (ITB setup previously seen on "The KLiata," which was most recently owned by CodingParadox on here.)

I was expecting 230-240ish whp out of this motor. 300-325whp n/a out of the full bore race motor i have internals sitting around for. Spin to 10krpms or so.

I didn't **** around much with "That'll do."

Anyways, yes. BG Chassis Mazdas are pretty much the **** as far as FWD cars go. You should build yours. With my parts.
