Default Noob Introduction

So, I was recommended over here by a few forum members.....and now I'm typing....Honestly, on all the other boards I am on I just don't understand the "Introduce yourself" section as it seems no one ever reads it...and honestly, I have never posted in one...however...here I am....on MiataTurbo.net...making an *** of myself in the "Introduce Yourself" section............

So, here it goes....I am Matt...I live in Oklahoma City....
I somehow got the urge to own a Miata while at Hallett a few trackdays ago while I was perusing around Scott's garage....Saw the formula mazda cars...decided they were out of my price range for a good racecar...and decided maybe the Spec Miata was the way to go...well, I've been into motorcycles for quite some time now and have quite a bit of experience with them. No, I'm not Nicky Haden or even what I would consider a "Fast" club racer....but I'm a recreational club racer and have quite a bit of fun....so there's the background...Well, last weekend at OU/TX i managed to get down to Texas to pick up a Spec Miata donor car....well....here's where I got from there....I'm a real estate investor in Oklahoma City and decided that I would drive the car around for a bit (damn these little cars get great mileage stock)...running around town...run some autox's, high speed touring...then go full blown spec miata....well....after driving the car around for 200-300 miles or so...here's where I'm at...this car is slow.....and since it's roughly the same cost to track prep most cars (ie. from stock to on the track / cage, seat, etc)...I'm thinking about just getting a little power adder action and doing some high speed touring, and maybe just running whatever class this car will go in...maybe pull the turbo off and run spec miata later.....but If I could build a little setup that would be fun to run on the street + do a rear torsen swap....I could have a fun little car for cheap that I wouldn't have to worry about putting through a tire wall at the track.....so, now I'm here.....and I have typed a paragraph or two about how I ended up here...that no one will read...haha....

Thanks,
-Matt

OMFG! That's the longest sentence I've ever read! If I read it out loud, I would die from suffocation!

JK! Welcome Matt

Yeah you gotta work on the use of periods and capitalization. Coherence is important if you want help.

don't mind hustler.

i'm trying to think of why you shouldn't mind him, and honestly i'm drawing a blank, though.

I guess he's mostly harmless? We all seem to think so anyway. Anywho, just don't stick any limbs through the bars of his cage and you'll be fine.

Haha. Just curious, what type of times are you guys running at Hallett? And second, you know, 1.5 hrs from Hallett and would still drive to MSR Cresson anyday. I really like Hallett, I just like MSR better, it seems to have more flow to it. No, I do not know a Ricky Jordan. Is he an instructor @ Hallett or something? I don't know many of the car guys, I do know most of the motorcycle guys though.

Ricky lives in Dallas, his famiry owns 5th gear motorsports (porsche shop), and he rides for dunlop.

My times are funny. My best time in my stock motored 91 was 1:40.3 (lol), but I turned a 1:36 with a 200lb passenger in Johnwag's car in one session. I did like 19 track days there last year, so i know the track pretty well and eventually I'll have a capable car out there. Not lifting in his car through 7&8 is awesome.

MSR is fun, but you can really beat up on people at hallett in a miata.

I haven't been to either track yet, But I'm sure which ever one with the sharp turns will have the best results for the miata.

I'm a sport bike rider too. I have never hit a track. But I have blown the po po's away a many of time. I had one of the fastest NA street bikes in dallas for 3 years. We were all capable of racing anywhere...... We just drank and partied our track money away.LOL
Now I just ride every once in a while.

On a sport bike I would prefer a faster track as well. Those things have plenty of power. And most people can't use all of it. But once you get it down. It is leathal.
