Looks like this is the place I need to be. I'm hailing from Central KY just moved here from Michigan and liking the warmer temperatures. I hope to pick everyones brains a bit and offer the little advice I can in the future.

Anyway a bit about myself. I'm a GC born in Michigan but moved around a lot, including MI, IN, IL, OH, UT, NY, PA, KY and multiple places in Japan. I've been happily married for 5 years to a wonderful woman who also loves fast cars. And have had the miata now for just over a year. And we both agree it's time to make it faster.

Hey Eloquin,

I'm from Lexington too (and also new to this site). I have a '91 blue (that's up on jackstands in my garage undergoing a V8 conversion) but have been turbocharged for years. I wish I had found this site earlier but got word right when I was starting to sell off some turbo parts.

BTW, I'd highly recommend a turbo for your miata if you're thinking about that. I've had fun with some sort of turbo on my miata for over 10 years and it's been great.

A large group of miata power junkies used to meet every Thursday at Sawyer's Downtown for lunch. Usually only a few are there now but feel free to join us some time. Just shoot me a PM so I'll know to look for you if you plan to come down. The owner is a miata nut too.

Hey Lee I actually think I've e-mailed you back and forth a couple of times. Saw you on craigslist.

I've been there to sawyers and saw all the miata pictures I thought it was great. Hopefully I'll get a picture of mine up there, after a while.

And sorry, you forget when you're in a field for so long that other people may or may not know abbreviations for things that are common place to you. GC stands for General Contractor. I build residential homes. Kind of a long way from where I started in school, C'est la Vie.

Thanks for the GC clarification. In my case I'm a "MC" person (which stands for Mechanically Challenged).

Yeah I was going to post this elsewhere since this was just a meet and greet. And yes I know it's a ricer currently. Hence having said it's time to make it faster.
I have thought of doing a few things to this vehicle, I thought about going v8 but fear losing the handling of the miata, I have thought of putting in a rotary engine but, haven't heard anything good except for the fact that it's different. I've also thought of putting in a 2.0 turbo with n2o but everything would have to be done without a kit since there aren't many that have this setup. So I'm thinking about upgrading to a 1.8l turbo but just looking currently at different builds and deciding where to go. Currently I have a stock 1.6l with nothing really exciting but an AEM cold air intake, so really everything can change.

BTW, I saw a Mariner blue miata the other day in Lexington that had a similar body kit and that was the first time I had ever seen one with that kit in Lexington. Surely that wasn't you w/ a new paint job? That ruby red of yours looks very clean. I'd like to see it in person some day.

Do to your car what you want- it's yours. If I were you, I'd just go with a turbo for the 1.6. It's simple, inexpensive and has a large margin for making power over stock. There's lots of examples here showing the potential of the 1.6.

No, I haven't as of yet done a new paint job. however I am contemplating it. for the time being it is still the ruby red. So apparently someone else has my same body kit here in town? That sucks. oh well.

*Auxiliary Fuel Pressure regulator
*Boost Control
*VDO boost gauge and Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge with sending unit in a 95
*Gauge pod modified to fit on the Miata dash
*HKS Turbo Timer
*HKS Electronic Valve Controller
*Rod Millen Racing springs and GAB 8-position shocks

Now to start putting it all in.

GARAGE-PRO™ RECLINING RACING SEATS. I have a pair of Sparco's that were in there when i bought the car but they are in sad shape. Needing to be reupholstered.

Eloquin, I like those seats; do you have any issues with their width? Can you slide them all the way back?

No, the width is perfect and yes I keep them all the way back which of course means they sit upright, but they are still very comfortable and they come in blue/black, red/black, yellow/black, green/black, black/black, and grey/black. The topper is that they only cost $160 for the pair, and they work with my harness perfectly.

Edit:However, I did need to modify the original seat track for them to fit. Nothing a Dremel didn't make quick work out of.

Thanks man for the explanation. I'll be following you with those. I've searched for seats for a long time and those seem perfect for my needs (I'm too old for regular racing seats anyways )
