Default Second miata, time to turbo

Hi guys,

My name is Joe and I just picked up a second 90 miata dirt cheap. My goal is to is to turbo it cheap, only looking for around ~150 whp. My fab skills are limited as is my knowledge of turbos, but I've got pretty good skills with the search button. I'll probably blow the car up, but that's the point of having 2.

STS ****

No good pics of the new car. Most of the body is clean, actually nicer then my first, but it has one minor issue:

Door opens and closes fine, car drives straight. I need to get get the frame checked. Worse case scenario is the car gets parted and I make money if there is more damage then I think.

150HP is so easy to it. Even a greddy kit will take you there.

Easy is the idea. Start there and build up the power as I build up the supporting mods.

The greddy kit is perfectly capable of well over 200whp with the appropriate upgrades. If you can find one for cheap (less then $1000) then I think it's a great place to start, especially if 150whp is your goal at the moment.

I'm not sure you guys understand this man's definition of cheap.

You can get one of the ebay cast manifolds for $140 shipped. Add to that $80 used injectors, $285 MS build, a used ~$50 turbo, home made DP from $20 in piping, and ~$100 in misc. feed and drain plumbing, and you've got a nice $675 turbo kit with the stock cross over tube reused. Another $140 will get a universal intercooler "kit" shipped to your door from CX racing. That's how I'd do it, upgrading as I had the money. I'd even consider an ebay manifold/dp combo if I could weld some braces on.

Is this cheap enough?

Two things to wath out for detonation and lean condition.. two different beasts

Detonation is way much advance timing, lean means bad tune

Make it clear, recipe for error is a given by listening to what you are saying. I am on my fourth boosted engine, fiy, you have been warned.

Thanks Curly, that's exactly the direction I've been researching.
