Default Picked up my first miata

Hi everyone. I'm Zach I live in Omaha Nebraska. I just picked this miata up from my buddy. I have slowly been fixing all the little stuff that needs fixed. The motor that's in it is fairly new. It is the 95 1.8 with 99 pistons. the head is shaved to bump up compression and the inexhaust cam mod. Right now my plan is to MS it and slap a turbo on it so I can make a few more ponys and turn it into a solid drift car.

Slapping a Turbo on a "shaved head" is not the best idea. inexhaust cam mod is not good on turbo car either. Do your own research to confirm. I might be wrong since you have the 99 pistons and its a drift car. I would read a lot before going turbo. Good luck

I'm just worried about your head when this inevitably happens.

I'm no expert, but you might need a higher rollbar.

No I fit in it I'm only 6'1" I just pushed myself up so I was over the windshield. I have a set of recaros that are going in it so I sit lower I just need to make my seat mounts.
Yeah it's pretty much has a booger/Miami vice paint job right now but I just picked the car up 2 weeks ago so I'm in the process of taking it from that stance life and trying to make it somewhat usefull

That's one of the worst things I've ever seen. That statement is not specific to cars either.

Please help that poor car.

Welcome to the forum. It looks like that car needed rescuing from the heathens that were abusing it.

Agreed with the above regarding the engine mods being detrimental to the plan for the addition of a turbo. Higher mechanical compression means significantly less capability of boosting without detonation. Unless you only use e85 or some other detonation resistant fuel.

BTW, Miatas are a very poor choice for drift cars because of their low polar moment of intertia. 240's and rx7's are far better platforms for that purpose for reasons directly related to physics. The same attributes that make Miatas very poor drift cars also make them very good track cars and make 240's very poor track cars, FWIW.

Good luck.

I gotta say... I don't think this car has seen the end of its abuse.

I'm sure it was pretty exciting for the passenger that had his arm out the window the whole time . . . on the side that rolled no less.

Drifters.
