Default Turbo/Mazda Newb.

Picked up my first Miata, its also my first turbo car, my first covertable, and most importantly... my first car with pop up lights.

basically I know very little about this car other then my general knowledge of cars. before this mainly what Ive had was rwd corollas (ive had 4), the one I still have is a ka24 powered 81 (should be a dead giveaway that I like to drift). Ive also owned a couple Datsun 620's, a '71 vega kammback with a 4.3 v6 vortec swap, and Im currently trying to sell my 260z with a 280zx l28. and almost forgot my mint '54 ford crown vic that's been sitting in a shed for years.... and my daily, '02 Honda cbr 600 f4i.
whew.

Anyways on to some pics!

Ive been wanting a Miata for a long time now so Im excited to have it! I have some plans for it as soon as I finish my other car and sell my z.

This car has literally been passed from newb to newb to newb? And it just changed colors to confuse us?

I actually looked up the noob vs newb definition on urban dictionary and I hope you're correct. Welcome to the site, get that car some serious TLC.

Im glad you actually got that! This car does need a lot, although a lot less than my z so Im that much closer to my goal of track driving as a hobby. which for this car I mean grip not drift.

Read the thing on ztm's thread about the bad frame rails and panicked. went outside and checked under the car and they are actually still in good condition. whew!

thanks! I'm already talking to a guy on craigslist about getting a whole new set of locks with the door handles, steering column plastics (it has bandannas around it now - facepalm*), and possibly the "tombstone" center piece.

also need to get a shift boot (again bandanna), door panels, plastic piece under the steering column, gas tank/trunk cover plates, and then clean everything. then to top off the interior rear half roll bar, drivers side 4 pt. and mounts for my extinguisher and go pro.
interior done.

I got some little, yet important stuff for it at the junkyard today. Some things I didn't even know existed/I needed. Plus I got the center bezel ect, ect. Anyways, the interior is getting much better. Next I need the cage once we set up my friends tubing bender. Pretty broke right now though.

I've been finding loose bolts everywhere.

Pulling the power steering out soon, pretty sure the oil pump needs to be replaced too. Pressure seems a little low.

I also need to fix a couple noises I hear underneath, the quick inspection under the car when I got it showed everything looked good. A couple worn bushings but that will be fixed with polys and the blown shocks that will be replaced by short strokes. Then an alignment.

Body work an paint will most likely be last. still debating the color I want to paint it.

So you traded one riced-up shitbox for a smaller, lighter, riced-up shitbox? Nice. You definitely made out on that deal.
