An old cowboy newbie- My introduction

Whether I got off on the wrong foot or not is up to the forum to decide; and since I have been advised to introduce myself- here is the thumbnail outline on 'Davzway'.
Occupation for gainful employment: Worked construction all my life, beginning with my father's company in the 1960's. Currently hold Certified Roofing Contractor and General Contractor licenses. Working as Construction Consultant since 1982 and Expert Witness since 1986.
Personal Hobby:
1) since the mid-1960's, building amps, design and build custom speakers including Altec-Lansing 'Voice of Theater' speakers as Senior in High School. Not normal in what I spend to have good quality tunes in my vehicles and to have a good Audio Visual system at home.
2) Competition shooter (NRA action pistol, IPSC, Sporting Clays, and Cowboy Action Shooting (life member of SASS, Range Officer Level 1 and 2). Sixguns handle in early '60-'s, 'Sixgunner' for a couple decades before joining SASS, since about 1992, it has been and remains- Hardway Horsley. 25 years working at friend's gunsmith shop (spare time). Range officer since 1980's. Over 25- years as NRA Certified Firearms Instructor- teaching firearms safety classes in Home Safety, Rifle, Shotgun, Pistols, and mostly one on Personal Protection.
Have always been into 'CARS' since High School and fortunate to be able to own many sports cars over the years; 'Needing' to buy new wheels every 6mo. to a year since I was driving 60k-98k miles per year.
Construction, Stereo/AV equipment, and firearms can give you an expert argument. Cars, especially the race cars, will bow to those more expert than myself.
Smile and have fun when you can. Life is too short to frown or carry a grudge.
Favorite quote is a short poem from 1867 by Adam Linsey Gordon, entitled ... "Ye Weary Wayfarer"

Two things stand like stone...
Kindness in anothers trouble...

Welcome to the forum, Dave. Once you get past the ritual hazing (designed to weed out the thin-skinned) you will find this to be a very knowledgeable and helpful group.

Used to own a 1996 (used but real clean), put 20k on it before getting dumb and convincing myself to sell the Miata along with a Montero suv to buy a new Nissan Crew Cab truck. I still have the Frontier, and now I own another Miata, a 1992 that was completely redone (PO said 20k and I can account for at least 12k). It is NOT Fubar.
If I installed the GReddy turbo (complete with pipes and everyting- except a pop-off valve) I would have no trouble with this car on the track. PO is a doctor who not only races cars as his alternate life and he Teaches racing locally and he has no problem with the way the Miata was setup (likely helped; initially was going to use the car teaching, but sold because he already has a race car (more the three car garage with 3 of 'his' cars and no room for his wife to park 'her' car (forgot specs on the full race car, drove BMW- M3 for his 'street' car, and this Miata that I know about). The two inch ground clearance and HARD ride on the street are issues unique for me due to four spine surgeries. So I'm going backwards with the Miata insofar as the suspension is concerned.
I may sell or install the Greddy,, but I MUST have a performance oriented stut/spring setup that is not this hard on the street. Compared to my previous stock 1996 Miata , this car is a brick that is a dream in handling. This '92 goes around curves and does hard right angle corners like you wouldn't believe without oversteer.
I may be wrong on 15" vs 16" tire size,, need to get a light and magnifying glass to check tires. The '92 rides on 205/40/vz16 (15) tires on cool alloy mag rims; if I figure out how to upload, I'll send pics down the road.

Anyways, get us some pictures of everything (engine, suspension, exterior, interior, everything!) and we can tell you what you are working with.
Warning though, we will give you the cold hard truth.

Illustration: my Engineering technical background led to being respected by my piers in the construction industry; even if not always liked for telling the truth. The highest compliment I ever received came from one of Florida's top architects after a difficult meeting about a problem building project I had taken over for my company, where I had refused to lie for the owner of the company (he was there). Mr. 'G' architect said, "If David told me the moon was made of green cheese, I would not question his statement. I've learned not to doubt his expertise".
Just the FACTS. Told mind someone saying I screwed up if they provide the facts to back it up. Never to old to learn.

I've been running my Greddy on the track and it's been reliable.
Some of the hard suspension may be due to the tire/wheel combo. A 40 series tire doesn't provide much cushion and if the combo weighs more than about 30 lbs you'll be beating yourself to death due to sprung vs. unsprung weight ratio. Do you know what the setup weighs?
I've got plenty wrong with my spine, but I love the FCM with 550/325. Almost wishing I had gone ahead with 700/400 even though I DD.
I've been running my Greddy on the track and it's been reliable.
