Picked up a 4.3 torsen and what I thought was everything I needed. Turns out when going from a 1993 to a 2000 diff you also need new axle nuts. Placed an order for those, some new seals for the differential, and some fresh axles as well.

New rear end installed and buttoned up. Now the only 1993 part in the drivetrain is the 5 speed and the rear hubs. The transmission will eventually be replaced too, the 5th gear synchro has seen better days and the rear hubs will be changed out this winter too.

Thanks, its been a process.

Videos of my second and third auto-x events below. Really enjoying the car, my only complaint right now is with the brake bias, its much much too far forward. I'm not running anywhere competitive times, but seat time is all I need I expect.

So noticing that the tires were wearing the outside edge badly, on the rears in particular, I gave the car what it wanted, more camber. Now at -3.3º Front and -2.8º rear. Also reduced the caster down to 4.2º, still zero toe all around. This is the most camber I can get out of the front without some new parts, and the rear is pretty close to maxed out as well. I might have been able to get the fronts to -3.5º but I would have had to run a pile more caster and without powersteering I figured that would slow me down more. My first run of the day the car was pushing everywhere, I thought I made a huge mistake with the setup, but as the tires warmed up on subsequent runs the car came back to a good place and the reduced caster helps in the quick transitions. This group only classes by displacement, so I run with all the other street tire, non-turbo miatas so this car is a bit of a cheater compared to others in the class, allowing me to finish 5th out of 22. My best run of the day is the second run in this video, but I picked up a cone somewhere, though even if it were clean it would have only moved me up to 4th. Still a good day. I think I will be leaving the Novice Class behind and go take my lumps in the Index (pax) class. Its either that or run mostly unopposed in the CSP class.

Another day, another autocross. Managed to finish second in class, losing by .022 to an mr2, though it still a cheater car in these events. Really enjoying the car, setup is nicely balanced and a hoot to drive.

ts so stinking hot. Got out and ran this past weekend. Didn't place as well as I have in the past, placing 5th. I usually pick up time with each of my runs, but the tires got overheated and I just couldn't improve with my last two runs. Need to be able to run better times with fewer runs.

In the downtime I left the car parked.... Tires took the epoxy right off the floor. Going to have to keep the car on jackstands going forward.
