Default The Most Standalone MS2 99' NB Ever (And A Couple Questions)

First a couple questions though.

1) My diagnostic box has no sticker in it. I am assuming all you say jumper this and ground, or this and that, have a sticker or something to identify which pins are what. I've searched and searched and can't find a picture. Can someone link me or take a pic of the diaganostic box diagram on their 99-00?

2) After having a pic, I need to know which ones are

a)fuel pump
b)radiator fan
c)cooling fan

3) What about the tach? I'm running full standalone. I read many use a 1K oh resistor between tach and B+. Do I need to do that on a 99?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

On to standalone goodness...

Definitely not finished but I'm on my way. This is about 10 hours worth of wiring. Still got more to do. Gotta do some wiring for the cooling fans, wires for a knock sensor, fuel pump circuit, LC1, and maybe one other. Ignition system is EDIS4 and it's 99% done. This wiring is everything else for MS. This replaces the engines wiring harness completely.

Pics don't look like much but it's A LOT of wiring. Fuel injectors, TPS, Coolant, IAT, knock sensor, etc etc. And relays, fuses, and on and on.

I can't wait to see this in the car. I was thinking about doing this after helping a buddy make his own harness for his EG and doing it as a mild wire tuck.

it only doesn't look like a lot because you have the wires relatively organized. That is some fine work, something that takes much more patience than I have.

Can ANYBODY answer my first 3 questions? Please? I swear I searched for an hour last night and couldn't find any pics. I think F/P is fuel pump from my research, but I don't know which pin is F/P as my cap has no sticker. If someone could post a pic it would be GREATLY apreciated. It's that or I'm gonna have to add new circuits for the fans and fuel pump.

From the pictures it looks like you are making a completely new engine harness. Why??? The stock harness should be fine, and if you get a female connector you can mate the megasquirt directly to the stock harness. It seems to me like you are making a lot more work for yourself.

I just checked and no sticker on my box. Went through the FSM and nothing detailing the pinout.

I found fuel pump....

if your look at it. bottom section (2 row) top row, second in from right. GND is two over from that...three in from left.

a multimeter set to check continuity could probably determine the fans. On harness 1L = condenser fan 1R = cooling fan.

Um, the fuel pump relay is under the dash, not in the engine bay. By the steering wheel.. The two fans each have their own independant wiring, the two shall never meet. In my car, pre-MS, I ran one wire to each relay (one behind the driver's headlight, one at the main fuse box).

I want to do the wiring so bad! Have you got your inputs worked out?

Finished the wiring harness this morning. I ended up tapping for the fuel pump at the diagnostic port and running a new relay for the fans. Got everything done and plugged in. Turned on MS2 and looked at my gauges through megatune.

Oh My God. For the first time ever, the temp and coolant sensor readings AGREED with each other. ( I drilled and tapped my thingy for GM coolant sensor and used a GM air temp sensor too.) TPS was working correctly. Turned the motor over and had an RPM reading from EDIS4 on megatune. got a reading showing MS2 is firing the injectors. Fuel pump comes on and off via MS2's control. Things are looking good. So I install my injector fuse, turn the key for 3 seconds and.....

IT STARTED!!
Woo hoo, I was sooooo glad to see it run. Running 100% on MS2 now. No problems, no quirkiness, no BS. Still gotta run the wiring harness somewhere and mount MS. Any suggestions as to where to mount it? I could mount it in the trunk I have so much length. Seriously. I'm figuring I'll put it behind the passengers seat with about 6' of cable below it.

Congratulations!!! I just started my Parallel install today and it runs sweet.

I'm thinking about building an extension harness this winter so I can place my stock ECU and MegaSquirt behind the seat. This would make it very easy for me to switch between ECUs for my E-Test.

Very very awesome, I love to see a solid install!

Not the best pics, but this is an AWESOME place to put the MS. I'm so happy with it there - or I was, till I lost the AC and had to move it. But really, it's a reasonably soft mount, Easy to remove/access, and caused no problems. I'd recommend it, as weird as it seems to bungee mount it. I'd suggest at least LOOKING at it there. Also, I put my knocksense beind that tab.
