Default I'm a little confused, re Ignition driver

Okay i've been cracking on with building up my MS1 V3 i'm up to step 65, but that the heck do I do now?

To stop confising myself I was going to build the thing up and then mod afterwards (although I've done the PWM idle mod.....but that was rather simple )

But I'm not sure what bit I should build, the MegaManual states that the next part is for MSII users only :?

Help!

I just need to know which ignition output instructions I need to build and then mod for my MX5, I should really know the answer, but my brain has fried....

is it:

* GM HEI
* GM DIS
* Ford EDIS
* Ford TFI
* Bosch 0 227 100 124
* MSD 6A, or,
* Direct Coil Control

well it's none of the above, the're all MSII options.... DOH!

the MSI options are

. No ignition (fuel only)
. Distributor for even-fire 2 stroke 1,2,3,4 cyl and
even-fire 4 stroke 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,12,16 cyl
. Ford EDIS
. Dual Ford EDIS (e.g. 2 EDIS4 modules on a V8) TEST
. Dodge Neon crank decoder
. Ford TFI
. GM 7 pin HEI
. Toothed wheel decoder
. Dual wheel decoder/2nd trigger
. GM DIS
. Buick C3I
. Oddfire wheel decoder ALPHA TEST

Now i reckon I need dual wheel/2nd trigger for my car, but I'll be damned If i can follow those instructions :( I was hoping for something more along the lines of the megamanual..... Help!

You need the dual wheel decoder/2nd trigger option.

Just build the board normally and then follow Jerry's instructions here.

That's what I couldn't figure out, but i've sussed it now, I must've really fried my brain, all I needed to do was skip step 65 and carry on as I have been doing, but for some reason it completly threw me....

feel like a right numpty now!

You are attempting to do something that is extremely complex. Of course you are going to have some problems with your MS, after all everyone else has. Every time anyone goes through a learning process (and let's face it, the MS is one hell of a learning curve) you will come across problems that make you wonder why you started the thing.

But if you keep reminding yourself what you are achieving, you will get there in the end.

Keep up the great work!!

I'm off to do some corrections (I really should'a left my teacher's hat back at school)....

Thanks for the vote of confidence steve :-)

slightly different tack, but the PWM idle circuit, i've copied your way of mounting it - on the proto area - i've not bent any of the legs and left it stood straight up. will this setup provide enough cooling? or is it worth attaching a small PC heatsink to it? i.e. a northbridge heatsink off an old P2?

Yeah, attaching a heat sink to it will be a much better method than just leaving it like I have. If you can do it then please post your solution so I can copy it.

I think I've figured something out I'll post a pic later.

next question, the warmup enrichment LED seems to never turn off, i either flashes fast or is on solid. I've not really messed with MegaTune, do I need to alter something in that, or have I built it wrong?

So far i'm finished, all I need to do is the Ignition Mods

Steve/Aussie, here's my heatsink solution, My dad used to own an electronics shop many moons ago, and had a few of these rattling about the garage, they're designed for the TIP style transistors, perfect fit
