DIYPNP on stock 93, need help.
Hey everyone.
Ive been lurking for a while here after getting me a miata, now is the time for a post because i cant get it running. Everything ive read didnt help, maybe im missing something and just need a second pair of eyes.
Here is what i have:
93 totally stock
DIYPNP 1.5 running 3.1.1 firmware
GM IAT sensor
AEM uego wideband hooked up trough the db15 port(On the top row.)
This is how i got to where i am now:
removed the sig fuse
assembled the DIYPNP per instructions for usdm9093 from diyautotune
hooked up the GM IAT sensor to pin 1 and 6 or whatever it is
updated to 3.1.1 firmware
applied the 240cc startup map from the instructions
disabled boost control ( it was causing the 60k RPM thing)
calibrated Coolant sensor and wideband
all sensors look good
no start at this point.
jumped fuel pump at the diag term--no change
messed with settings for about 5 hours and got it to start only with feathering the throttle and it still feels like its running on 2 cyl
It would help if someone with a similar setup can donate their msq file so i can see what im doing wrong.
Thanks for your time.
Alex

Hey Greg, I've seen your forum post about getting your car running, helped me a bit.
Is there an easy way to tell if it's a Cali car to be sure? I don't think it is.
Also I've tested the spark at all 4cyl and looks ok.
What's a good way to test injector output?
Also the stock ECU still starts it right up and idles perfect, even with the gm sensor and no AFM hooked up.

If there's spark at all four, you can still pull the plug wires one at a time to see which ones don't change "idle". I say "idle" because you probably don't have a normal one if it's on 2 cylinders, but going down to one will make it not run at all. Assuming spark is good, pulling either 1&3 or 2&4 should kill it, once you know which bank of injectors is bad, you can go from there.

Just checked the harness and I do have all for of those wires 4-yzuv 2 green and 2 yellow, accordingly. In the instructions for the jumpers in the diypnp manual it didn't have anything about 4-yz so I never hooked them up. Am I suppose to?
Also pulling the plugs to test injectors would be really hard since I have to feather the throttle to keep the car on, and rpm is all over the place anyway.

no. stock wiring, you need to check the stock wiring, not what you have done inside your ms.
the CA emissions 93 had sequential injection, therefore 4 seperate injector drivers. currently you are setup for batch injections - only two injector drivers.
If you have seq wiring, 2 have two injectors not wired to anything.

Working good
Update.
Got it working perfect now.
For some reason the base tune didn't transfer some settings like secondary fuel constants so idle was impossible and misfire every other cylinder.
Idle was also really hard to get working, with screw all the way closed and base tune set it would idle at 3k rpm at times, followed a guide from the mx5nutz forums posted by Mr Slow http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.p...dpost&p=622221 and idle is perfect now with ac/lights and whatever else there is.
Also there was a problem with the MAT sensor connection to the old connector, it would be an intermittent connection goes to -30c in spikes and stays at 21c the rest of the time, so i cut the connectors off and spliced directly into the harness, perfect temp now.
Im including the msq and the msl of my current setup, maybe it will help someone. also please critique my tune, i want to make sure i didn't miss anything.
Thanks everyone for your help.
Ill see you again when turbo comes in.
EDIT: Secondary fuel and ignition is wrong in this setup, needs to be disabled and VE table remapped. Matt pointed it out to me.
it idled better for me with it on before, but its wrong.
