Default Another MSPNP and LC-1 troubleshoot thread

Yep..searched and searched. I have the grounds at the same spot for everything. It even worked normal (I think) for a whole two weeks.

My Lc-1 with the XD guage will display AFR ratio and it will fluctuate etc. But the MS on my laptop only reads 7.35....

I checked the configurator thing under File and it says

00057 # set INNOVATE_LC1_DEFAULT "Innovate LC-1 default, 0-5v = 0.5-1.5 lambda"

So I made sure that I had set the LC1 to that very thing. It was.

There is a wire going into the MS still...what possibly could the problem be??? Why might MS not be reading the LC-1 all of a sudden?

Default wideband setting

Ok, so I have the Lc-1 to read 0-5v = 10.1-20.1...but my only option for that on the configurator is as below. Is that correct?

00043 ; Pick an O2 sensor setup, exactly one of these must be #set and the rest
00044 ; must be #unset. None of this is applicable to MS-II, see all the
00045 ; calibration options under the Tools menu when using standard B&G MS-II code.
00046
00047 #group LAMBDA_SENSOR "MS-I Lambda Sensor Type"
00048 #unset NARROW_BAND_EGO "Narrowband Sensor"
00049 #unset WB_1_0_LINEAR "Wideband in NB Emulator Mode, 0-1v 1.5-0.5 Lambda"
00050 #unset AEM_LINEAR "AEM Gauge AEM-30-42xx"
00051 #unset AEM_NON_LINEAR "AEM UEGO Controller AEM-30-230x"
00052 #unset DIYWB_NON_LINEAR "DIY-WB or Tech Edge non-linear output"
00053 #unset DYNOJET_LINEAR "DynoJet Wideband Commander"
00054 #unset TECHEDGE_LINEAR "Tech Edge sensor giving 0-5V 9-19:1 AFR"
00055 #unset INNOVATE_1_2_LINEAR "Innovate sensor giving 1-2V 10-20:1 AFR"
00056 # set INNOVATE_0_5_LINEAR "Innovate, PLX 0-5V 10-20:1 AFR"
00057 #unset INNOVATE_LC1_DEFAULT "Innovate LC-1 default, 0-5v = 0.5-1.5 lambda"
00058 #unset ZEITRONIX_NON_LINEAR "Zeitronix Non-linear WB"
00059 #unset WB_UNKNOWN "Wideband sensor but none of the above types"

Just in time for the MS software on my laptop to take a dump. I just had to erase everything because it kept telling me I had a 350 8 cylinder on engine constants no matter what I did....

So I erased everything off the computer, got the CD that came with the MSpnp and am trying to get it all to work again... dang it. Solve one problem, create another

OK, first off, I have not slept in 41 hours (Oakland has been a busy city) Not that its an excuse. I am dumb as a rock.

Now that I made the great decision to erase all my files on my laptop..will I need to reset timing etc when I reinstall the cd contents from diyauto...
second...now when I try to download the base map from there website..I just get the code in a new window..not a file down load....
Third...If I fire up my car, plug the laptop, open up mega tune (which now shows all blank values in everything) can I upload the map thats on the car and change my O2 guage setting in the configurator and then save the map thats on the ecu to the computer...
or am I fucked?

I am going to bed now...please be kind and help me through this.

Got to get her running right first thing in the morning to get back to work...

You don't have to reset timing as you can simply load your current tune off the MSPNP when you hook up the laptop.

Allrighty then...Plugged the lap top in...set the configurator..still reading 10.1 in all red on the computer...xd-16 guage reads correct though...
What to check?

Is the line going to the MS programmed to display in a full wideband range? Or is it simulating a narrow band?

Three easy ways to tell.

1. When you datalog does the O2 signal look like a square wave?

2. Switch the wires from the guage and the MS.

3. Plug into the LC-1 and see what range each output is programmed to display.

+1 on #3 above. You should go check that if you have not done so already. Make sure the LC-1 is set for 0-5V 10-20:1 on the channel the MS is connected to. If you are not using both, set them both the same to be sure. You might want to burn the latest LC-1 firmware while you are connected.

First off thanks for the Ideas!!
Second...answers

1. Last I checked ( I haven't data logged because of above listed idiocracy, will try tonight) it was just a bunch of up and down like spikes.
2.The MS gets a wire, the guage gets a plug. So I can't switch the wires.
3.I put both outputs of the LC-1 to read 0-5v=10.1-20.1

That sounds like it's trying to emulate narrowband. Make sure it saved your programming changes in the LC-1. Mine had a firmware issue where it wouldn't save the changed I made, the workaround was using an older version. There should be a thread on it here somewhere.

BTW, this whole burning the firmware is confusing to me. I don't really understand how to do it.
People give me a link the the megamanual...I read it. it says burn the firmware..but really how where etc. I am a computer rock..who uses his wifes mac to come to this board...
Gotpsi? actually got my car originally up and running...in case that question of how'd I get this far comes up.

I'm speaking of the software for the LC-1 not the megasquirt itself.

Again there should be a thread here with the details and software needed.

About he MS firmware.

There is a section specifically for the MS firmware here.
