So I have an MSPNP and I was talking to my brother, who is an electrical engineer and he was saying that it has a limited number of reflashes before its toast. Is this true? He was saying it was 2k or so so not really a problem but I was just curious if its true. I am less electrically knowledgeable so I thought I'd ask you gurus.

That depends on if its writing to eeprom or to flash memory. eeprom has a much lower life of writes than flash. I honestly don't know which is writes to.

It is limited, but I've never heard of anyone hitting the limit, and a new processor is under $20

I seem to remember the limit being more like 10K reflashes than 2K, but whatever it is, I have yet to see any processors sent back where this happened.

FLASH is anywhere between 1000 and 10,000 burns. EEPROMs are usually around 100,000.

I was backwards, pretty normal. Thanks for correcting. I assume that the mcu MS uses stores program memory on flash and the code is written so that variable values are stored in eeprom. So tuning will pretty much never kill your mcu eeprom since it has so many write cycles, and you'd have to totally reflash your ecu a TON of times to kill the program memory flash.
