Default Build Extension harness from wreck?

The extension harnesses for $150 seem way overpriced. Has anyone bought the harness end from a wreck and then wired the other end with the OEM block?

I saw the thread with the OEM connector parts list, but it was only the harness side, not the ecu side. Anyone know where to get the ecu side connectors, besides a DIYBOB? (Seems like the DIYBOB plus the harness may approach cost of harness.) I don't really want the aluminum box, just the connector.

You might be able to find a stupid junk yard who'll part out the harness. From my experience trying, they know the value of a whole harness and aren't willing to cut it. If you're lucky enough to find one in a Pick-N-Pull you might be able to cut it but if they see it you'll pay.

Don't underestimate the business savvy of a good 'junky'...

That said, I just bought new because it's so much nicer to work on new wires and have a baseline to cut/splice (I assume your going to make a parallel harness).

Yeah, doing a parallel. Last night checked ebay for harness prices and you're right, they know the value of them. The Boomslang extension harness is priced reasonably given the cost of used harness.

I thought about getting a couple DB25s, cutting down the middle, wiring one half to the DIYPNP board, and install the plug on the box. Then use the other half of the cable to plug into the box, wired to the car-side connectors (from Mouser) that plug into the stock ecu. The only problem with this is that I'm not sure if 24ga wire will pass enough current for each ecu pin (?). If they do, then that would absolutely be the most cost effective and cleanest way to build a parallel install.

According to this table, 24ga will pass 3.5amps, should be enough for this application if I can find some industrial strenght cables.
