Default Fan issues

I just went from parallel to standalone on my MS1 running Hi-res 10 code.

My tacho mod and idle mods work great, but my fan mod is not functioning.

I used this circuit:

I am using JS2 (output 1) going to IAC1B pin 27 and connected to the correct pin in the Miata harness. Megatune shows the Output switching on and off at the correct temps both in the car and on the SIM. The pin shows no voltage on the SIM when the output is activated.

Any ideas?

why not put it on JS0, that's the spot used solely for fan control. then all you gotta do is set your on and off temps.

right now, make sure js2 is set for output1. then in output 1, make sure CLT is selected for the source. Then for temperatures you enter the degrees F +40, so in the if you enter 240 the fans should trigger when the coolant temp is above 200 F. For hystersis, use 10, so the fans turn off when the temps go below 190 F.

I set up jso for my tacho. Output one is working as far as software. It turns on and off at the correct temps in megatune.

dunno, it should just trigger a ground. use a multimeter, test for continuity between the output to the harness and ground when it switches, if it goes to ground it's working correctly, then you know it's a probably in the wiring outside the MS.

Ah when I tested it yesterday I was looking for voltage. My dumbass didn't think to check to see if it is triggering to ground. I'll check that today after work

Confirmed. . . It does in fact properly switch to ground when activated

MS to OEM adapter harness is also good.

I am connected to pin 1B as shown in this diagram:

Even if I manually ground pin 1B on the ECU harness the fan relay does not kick on. Fuse is good. IDK whats up, my fans always worked before. Are we positive this is the pin?

I don't have the diagrams I used to wire up my DIYPNP, but as (bad) luck has it, my MS is open in front of me since I switched programmable outputs and my fan doesn't work. (It did just fine before this)

I'm pretty sure you've got the wrong pin. Looking at my MS, I've got it wired to pin 1U on your posted connector diagram. It would be the upper, left most pin when looking into the stock harness 11x2 connector. I've got a '97 so yours should be the same.

On a 96-97 year car, 1U is the Fuel Pump wire, (light green in colour), probably why your fan doesn't work if it's wired up to the fuel pump!

HAHA yeah that wont work.

I do have the wrong pin it seams. the Diagram on the How-To page does not match that in the Haynes manual. It seems that they have the AC and MAIN fans backwords...and seeing as how both of my fans are parallel on the MAIN it makes sense that none are tripping. I will move the pin and confirm after work today.

whoops. you should tie them together at the harness anyways, that's the better way to run parallel.

The colors called out in the Haynes show the opposite wiring for the fans... Ac fan is main and main is Ac . Both 96-97 diagrams. I can scan it tonight if u would like. I'll try moving the wire to that pin and see if it works.

How did I ever daily drive this car???

colors should be correct, i just have them labeled wrong:

http://y8spec.com/wiring/images/wiring/96sys.pdf

page 8. 1A goes to cooling fan, 1B goes to a/c fan.

I must've looked at it wrong. I was pretty tired when I posted that. My bad. My fan is wired to 1A. Whoops!

Moved it to the other pin (the one labeled ac fan in the diagram) and it works great.
