Now I just need 2 3-digit or 2-1/2 digit LCD 7-segment displays with a green backlight that'll fit in the space of the factory temp gauge.

Dimitris, I'm surprised you dont use the laser printer / acid soak method to etch your own pcbs from clad.

you ever use www.advancedcircuits.com ? their bare bones PCBs are downright cheap.

I'm still not using SMDs, so what good is getting your own PCBs made via the copper/acid method, if I have to drill the PCBs myself with 0.05" accuracy (sure, its fine for 2 or 3 legged components like resistors, caps or transistors, try doing that for a PDIP28 or for a PDIP40....). I do have an account with ADC, btw. The problem is that ordering PCBs is usually not worth it unless you have made several prototypes before AND you are sure that your design will not change much in time. I have been developing the 01+ expansion board with each ECU I build, and I am still adding more features and optimizing the design as I go along.

Thanks.

Hmmm, I wonder if 2 of these would fit in the factory temp gauge area

$3 at Digikey:

That one is reflective.

Here's the "trans-reflective" version of the same thing:

Someone tell me the difference!

Here's a large 16x2 dot matrix backlit display module for only $12. Prob too big for the temp gauge area, but may be nice for the under-the-radio panel.

Hmm, oil and coolant temp, EGT, MAP.

I've made one of the those for a friend: AFR, boost, oil temp, oil press, water temp, EGT. 2 of the readings were shared: you had to press a button to switch between the two pairs.

And then another friend saw his, and he wanted something a little better...like a 4x40 LCD!
