Default HELP! Wiring 1.6 for Sequential Injection!

Hello all!

I have a 1990 1.6 Miata with stock (batch) injection and the stock ignition setup. I purchased a DIYPNP V. 3.57 that is wired for both sequential injection and sequential ignition.

I need to know how to either wire my car for these sequential setups or how to return the DIYPNP back to batch injection and stock ignition.

OR, I may just be misunderstanding this whole scenario. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

The simplest thing to do would be simply to wire the car's existing two injector lines to INJ A and B of the MS, and configure the software for batch injection. The additional two injector channels can sit unused- they need not be removed from the board.

I do apologize for my ignorance, but can you explain that to me with a little bit more depth? I do not exactly know what you mean by that. Would it be better to wire the car for sequential or does it really mater? Thanks again

you need to hack the injector harness up so that you can run 1 individual output to each injector. That means removing the current pairings and running two new wires from your aftermarket ecu.

Wiring each injector to its own driver would be for sequential injection, right? I think I want to just re-wire the ECU back to batch injection and ignition. Or are the stock plugs already capable of running seuential spark?

So then I need to re wire the diypnp back to batch injection and stock ignition... But I still have questions about how to do that. Is there a thread for that somewhere?

You either need to do a lot of reading or contact the person who sold you the ecu and have him do what you want.

From the sound of it you have no idea of what is going on so don't try to get an internet answer to solve your issue. Take the time to learn. For example:

There is no such thing as a DIYPNP V3.57. There is a DIYPNP V1.5 or there are MS jumper boards that are V3.57.

I happen to have a DIYPNP V1.5 with seq inj and ign. I built it up for a stock engine but modified it as I went along. I learned about what I needed to do by reading through the manual at DIYAutotune for my version of the DIYPNP. You will need the wiring diagram from your year car also.

I didn't understand half the stuff on my first read. Started to get more of it on my second read. Really started to make sense by my third read. Maybe I'm just stupid but I really wanted to learn how to do this myself. I know I'm not an expert at this still but I feel really confident making changes to the ecu now and man, it feels good having learned something.

And since you have an adjustable ecu, you will want to know what to start adjusting. If you have your head wrapped around certain functions already, it will be easier to learn how to tune later.

If that sounds like too much work, you need to send this back to who you got it from and have him wire it up for a stock car. Getting internet answers might just prove disastrous for what you just bought. And you won't have obtained any knowledge.

All of that makes sense and I do appreciate your response. I did a lot more reading last night and I feel a bit more comfortable now than I did before. I have the DIYPNP V1.5 with a MS V3.57 jumper board and a Microsquirt V2.2 module.

The ECU itself is indeed wired up for sequential injection and ignition (I checked). I do not plan on wiring the engine for these sequential setups so I would like to re wire the ECU for stock injection and ignition settings. This is still where I have questions, even after reading throug the manual a couple of times and searching the internet for answers.

if the person who built the diypnp knew what he was doing he'd have put inj A and inj B on the two outputs that go directly back to the injector harness. You shouldn't have to rewire the unit to run batch injection / wasted spark.

I just need the diypnp to be wired for the stock injection and ignition systems. But it is wired for sequential setups. I need to wire it back to the stock settings, don't I?

you just need to make sure that INJ 1 goes to 4U and INJ 2 goes to 4V

I highly doubt it is wired for sequential spark. If it is you just need to make sure IGN1=1G IGN2=1H.

I believe you will also want to undo the jumpers where the BIP373's are at. From DIYAutotune DIYPNP assembly site:

Jumper it the way it says.

Then go to the documentation page and see how you build one. Which of course is totally backwards of how you should do things. You will find the ignition options on there.

And I may be splitting hairs with you at this point but if you do in fact have a DIYPNP then you do not have a V3.57 board. The DIYPNP is a product of DIYAutotune. The jumper board is specific to this product as it is not a regular Megasquirt MS1, MS2, or MS3. The DIYPNP is driven by a microsqurit module and the current board is the V1.5. You will find this information useful whenever you do a firmware update as the DIYPNP is separated from the MS2.
