Try a real USB serial port. Yours probably sucks. MS-II is more sensitive.

Have any problems flashing firmware?
Try Tunerstudio? You should not be using megatune anyway.

Mine seems to be sensitive to the order in which I plug it in and turn it on. The computer needs to be unlocked, then it needs to be plugged in, then I open TS, then I turn on the MS. It sometimes takes a couple attempts to get the "test connection" button to say "success!"

Easytherm. That definitely needs to be done first, if it wasn't done at DIYautotune.

You need to read and follow the directions. You will find info on installing firmware here:

OK. I have a pretty safe turbo tune that a few people have asked me to send out. I can send it to you as well. Only use the fuel and spark tables it as a guide. A lot of my other settings will not be appropriate for you.

While the MSPNP uses MS1, the DIYPNP is MS2 based and does not use EasyTherm. The DIYPNP does not have firmware loaded, so this must be done when you build it. You should use MS2/Extra 2.1.1 or higher.

Fantastic, would you mind sending that to me. I've been waiting for you to get the car tuned up. I've been tuning mine pretty successfully. I love how easy tunerstudio makes this process. I'm at the point where i need a driver while I adjust the fuel cells from the passenger seat.

OP: I had to get an FTID chipset usb to serial adapter. Glad you got it conncected.

Are you getting your tuning software to communicate with it?
Do you see RPM on the laptop?

When people say "nothing happened," sometimes a little bit of nothing happened, and sometimes a whole lot of nothing happened. I need to know how much nothing you have happening.

I should probably keep my mouth shut since i don't have a 99 and really have no idea about this model. Did you use the right base map? I'm not sure if everything is the same between the NA and NB maps. Did you get a good flash confirmation? How many bytes were written? Fuel pump running?

no rpms when cranking but if i spray some starter fluid it kicks over a few times then shuts off

Mike, you're making this tough dude. Do you smell fuel? Have you checked for spark? What does the SYNC light on the bottom of the dash do when you're cranking?
What happens on the tunerstudio dash when you turn the key to ON? Do the gauges react? Do the coolant temp and air temp gauges look reasonable (within a few degrees of each other and atmosphere)? What does the MAP gauge read? What do the gauges do when you crank? Does the tach register RPM? Does the fuel PW gauge do anything? Does MAP drop and react to changes in throttle position while cranking? Did you set up your throttle position? Did you install the sequential card? If so, did you set it up for sequential?

i dont smell any fuel, i have spark and when i use starting fluid it try's to start then shuts off. yes the gauges react when i turn the key off and on on tunerstudio, air temp looks good coolant temp looks good. the map read 105kpa and when cranking and i play with the pedal it drops, i set it up for the 4bar map pdaddy sensor yes the baro wires goes to baro in on the board. when cranking tach on the dash and in tunerstudio read nothing. the plus width gauge dose not move so sits at 0 also. all calibrations settings are done and im running batch fire injections so no.

Sounds like the MS is working. You missed a very important question. What does the SYNC light at the bottom of the dash do when cranking?
Did you check spark on both coils? Did you set the TPS? There is a TPS based flood clear that will kill fuel.
You can also use the injector test function to listen if it fires the injectors.
