Default Mazdaspeed miata MSM N122 NipponDenso 122 build

Hi,

I'm a novice with tuning and have been searching far and wide for information specific to the mazdaspeed which requires the N122 MS. I'll be doing a wide and and getting ready to try and get an idle pretty soon after I construct my DIY PNP. I wanted to know two things that I have had trouble finding with Google and the search bar here and other sites.

1. Are there any modifications to the N122 that have proven most useful such as knock control ( I hear the basic Megasquirt knock control is okay) or other turbo related sensors or adjustments to the build and the expansion of the Megasquirt that are recommended by the community at large.

2. Is there a base tune that may be floating around that is shareable for the MSM specifically on stock injectors? Also are there any recommendations from the community such as a source where a base tune could get acquired. I have heard of Braineack and Reverant building these kits and supplying them to their customers but wanted to see if the tune itself could be acquired on its own.

thank you very much, I have had my MSM for a little over a year.

If you don't really know what you're doing, this may be the perfect solution for you:

Default elaboration

I'm actually interested in the path less traveled. I do appreciate the direction but I have already made up my mind and the DIY PNP N122 is the route I want to go.

I love electronics and my pocket book so I'm going to be working with my peers in the Miata community here in the DMV area and I want to take my time on this and really learn how to tune. Everything I've read from Mazda-speed.com seems to help for tweaking the tune for the MSPNP0405 and there is a long history there to work from: Megasquirt tunes to get you started. this seems the most helpful after the initial tune getting idle tweaked and/or idling.

I am building my MS with a friend in Colorado in September and he is currently putting together his DIYPNP for a 90-93 harness. I'm really looking for just information or recommendations as I know the ECU can be customized a lot. specifically if there are any other sensors recommended by the community who has worked with the Mazdaspeed specifically.

I found a base map for the MSPNP0405 but from my basic understanding the pre-built only comes with the base tune on it already and its already completed. I have no problem building mine and putting this tune on it but I wanted to see if anyone else has done this and if that is a recommended route or if there is any reason this base tune would not work on the DIYPNP N122.

I really don't mind tinkering and figuring this out as my end goal is for me to know how to tune my car properly. In a year or two I want to transition my daily MSM to a dedicated track day car. I am planning on this daily to sit under 225 HP and raise the rev limiter to 7k in order to autocross like all the other boys and girls and not dancing with the rev limiter at 47 mph on every straight in 2nd gear. (I know shifting is an option but I have very recently gotten the 2nd to 3rd grind) Granted I'm already modifying the turbo so I'll no longer be in my STU class but I'd just rather be able to enjoy the car even if that puts me in a modified class rather than swap the gearbox for a 5 speed that had better gearing at the expense of a bullet proof transmission I could get more horsepower out of further down the road when I make this a track only car.

Any and all advice is appreciated or if this has already been discussed in a previous thread I could not fine please link
