Default Fuel pump mod for 1.6

I noticed the instructions for Brain's ms installation requires a jumper in the diagnostic box for the fuel pump. Does that mean the ms does not neccessary need the fuel pump mod for the 1.6 or is that for something else?

You can use it either way. If you jumper it in the diag box it turns on with the ign. switch. With MS controlling it the fuel pump primes when you turn the key on, then turns back off until you crank the car.
After the car is running both are the same.

One is simple to do the other you need to get to a tiny connector under the steering column.

look at the writeup again... I've done away with the jumper.

read the manual. megamanual.com. q9 and q12 are the drivers for the PWM current limiting circuit to drive low ohm injectors.
