Default Two Specific MS-1 Questions

1. Under Engine Constants, there is a temperature field called "Fast Idle Threshold." What does this do?

2. I noticed on a log that during cranking, my spark timing is a constant 18 degrees BTDC. As soon as I transitioned to ASE/WUE, it switched over to track my spark table. This was unexpected, and I'm uncomfortable having so much advance during cranking. Where did the 18 degrees come from and can I adjust it?

Thanks in advance!

Basic Setup -> More Ignotion Options, "Cranking Advance(degrees)"

Can't find it. I'm not sure that's available with an MS-1/MSPNP.

OK. Found it. On MS-1, it is under Spark Settings ==> Cranking Advance Angle.

BTW, anyone that's having kickback problems during cranking should take a look at this.

So, my last question is "Fast Idle Threshold." ???

Do you have a fast idle solenoid enabled and wired in?

From the Megamanual,

You can also set your Fast Idle Threshold (ºF) if you have installed a fast idle solenoid. Enter a coolant temperature to turn on the fast idle solenoid. A typical value is 145º Fahrenheit. The Fast Idle valve will be activated below this temperature (145ºF) and turned off above 145ºF. The Fast idle Threshold is independent of any warm-up enrichment, though generally has a similar value.
I don't believe the Miata's use one (Brainy will be certain to jump in and tell me how completely and utterly wrong I am if I'm wrong about this), so I believe it's a question of if you have added one in.

Super. I couldn't find it to save my life. We do not have a fast idle solenoid. So that setting has no effect on us.

Two mysteries solved. Love it. Prop to you!
