Default Got a blog about MEGASQUIRT - hope you like.

I think it can help people that are trying to start tuning.

I don't know all about tuning and I believe I have a few mistakes there, so I would love to get some input about it.

Thanks !

This is looking great! I've started a Wiki thing myself to chronicle and fill with my tuning adventures, and seeing as how I'm going down the same path as you, I'll keep an eye on this. Thanks for putting in the time/effort to writing this stuff down!

Not that I'll ever be able to find it when I need it, but it looks good to me as far as explaining the units and what the setting mean.

Props for the effort.

Default Great job!

I need to read this several times before I start tuning. Much easier to understand. Thanks for the hard work. Question, how do you calibbrate the thermistors?

High resolution AFR table

The AFR table is serving two main purposes:

1. Autotune
2. EGO

If we take into consideration that we want EGO to be limited to 100kpa (upper limit) then we only need to decide if we want to use autotune for boost (above 100kpa) or not.

I would advice against it, tune boost manually, it is easy and safer.
If you will tune boost VE manually then you will have only EGO that is using the AFR table, and EGO is limited to 100kpa, so why not use the whole AFR map upto 100kpa ?

That will give you a high resolution AFR table !

HD AFR table ?...
lol.

the AFR table doesn't need to be HD nor should it stop at 100kPa.

If you limit EGO to 100kpa why would you want AFR cells above 100kpa ?

You can use them for a higher res AFR table (some tuners do that FYI)

if you dont limit ego to 100kPa why would you want cells to stop there?

I will agree, if you do, for some odd reason, limit your EGO tables to 100kPa but still happen to hit areas above them, you wouldn't need your AFR table, or any table, to go above those rows.

I didn't understand sorry.

If you hit cells above 100kpa - naturally because we are talking boosted cars, you need your VE and spark at full scale, AFR can go up EGO limit.

Looks good to me...

All I'm saying is that I use EGO in boost.

So if you tune manually above 100 kpa you can play it safer by being more consevative but, not using EGO above 100 your leaving power on the table?

He's saying it's safer to run EGO in boost.

I think that you wouldn't want EGO (or it is not effective) in boost.

I haven't had problems with AFR in boost that needed correction - sometime getting in and out of boost happen to fast for EGO to even react.

The AFR areas where EGO is most needed (as I see it) are idle and cruise.
