Default HELP 2000 MX5 DIYPNP cannot figure out settings on tunerstudio

My car has been sitting for a week now due to some MS/ Tunerstudio problems.

I have a few freaking questions:

When I "open tune" into TS, is it replacing any and everything setup before I opened it? I hate to say this, but TS is not as straight forward as it should be, and I'm really getting tired of making adjustments and writing/burning to ecu and then only to go to that same setting SECONDS later and see that it's back to the default. Is that what the hell it's supposed to do? I can't just open a tune and everything I've saved already be plugged in everywhere??

My battery is dead along with a jumper box, and another battery that had a full charge that I was using to jump the damn car with...........I've cranked the car at least 20 times now.

*oh and I get that "4 warnings: AMCt thresh, afr calib etc" which i see is common but does not matter?

I'm reading rpms, and that crap, but I am getting NO spark.

I am resolving the problem with Brain but I hate annoying him with newb *** questions.

Just why the F#$#%# won't anything save when I've made changed??!!!

Why do I open a saved tuned (after "changes") and I cannot see if those chagnes even exist because everything is back to the default.

I swear the only thing that saves is the tps calibration. Sweet...........

I'm currently waiting on this battery charger to give a little life back to the battery. Then I'll log some cranks because I know that piece won't start. And I'd love for anyone to chime in with some awesome news or success story.

Is there anyone in the 757 area or close who knows this **** like the back of their hand and would be willing to come check over TunerStudio.

I'm losing my mind, I just want my nb running again :'(

in before crying bitch, *** and the like.

if this question is directed to me, if hes on win7 and has a standard user account he could be having read/write issues with TS. ive seen it with other software not TS it was mainly a hunch

Is TS not saving your changes to the msq file, or is it not saving to the ECU, or both? Are you getting the difference screen when you connect to MS that identifies differences between TS and the MS?

Perhaps you are getting tripped up by CurrnetTune default file name in TS. When you open TS and don't specify a tune file, it opens CurrentTune.msq by default. If you hit save, it will by default save to CurrentTune.msq. So, if you create an msq file with a custom file name (via "save tune as"), close and re-open TS w/o opening a specific file, you will be operating on the CurrnetTune.msq and not the file with your custom file name. Thus, if you save changes, and then later open up your custom file, you may lose changes. To prevent this, I always select "open tune" after launching TS and select the the most recently changed MSQ file to make sure I am not reverting back to an old version accidentally.

If the issue is with your ECU not remembering your changes then I would suspect that the burn is not completing successfully. If you have a flaky connection between the laptop and MS, it is possible that the burn will not be successful. I learned the hard way to use the USB adapter from DIY. I also have found that several long (5'+) USB cables cause dropped connections, as does daisy chaining cables. I am currently using a 3' cable that limits the mobility of the laptop, but eliminates dropped connections. I don't know if it is the length of the cable causing me problems, or my longer cables are just crappy.

Hope this helps.

Cannot save composite logs, ***** just not gonna happpen lol.

The car runs, battery got a full charge and I tapped the pedal a lil while cranking and she fired up and idle'd just fine.

I open the most recent tune also. The tune I'm sure is legit. And I always get a "errors while open tune would you like to review them now" For some reason it went from 4 to 12 problems but I just said **** it and went along with it.

Then I connect and I always get "there are 2 (or 3) differences from your offline tune to the one on the controller" I always ignore this because I believe whatever tune is on the MS is ok. My connection is fine and I got a $40 serial to usb from radioshack that is getting the job done.

Anyone in the area want to come tamper with my **** box?? I'm not even excited to have this car boosted anymore. And I wish I was lying

TS won't allow you to ignore that prompt - either TS gets updated from the ECU, or the ECU gets updated from TS. This is likely the culprit for your lost changes.

That's what I assumed to because after I've opened the tune, I don't see anything top name (which i'm assuming is the tune) change. but at the bottomr right there's a little window that says the tune I uploaded.

should have got a VOOOOODOOOOO BOX and blew this car up

Be patient, TS is excellent software, you will get the hang of it, it just takes some time to overcome the learning curve (which is much shorter now that we have TS).
