Default 90 mx5 1.6 mspnp help

Have installed my mspnp today and got the car running with the JRSC kit (77,5mm pulley). Have a LC1 wbo2 that's connected to the MS.

Does anyone own a similar car with this type of mod?

Its a standard JRSC kit with the AFPR (old style kit without powercard).

1.6l 116hp
Org injectors
Org cams
Org header
no-cat pipe - with 2.5" exhaust from header
No AFM

Edit: Forgot to say the fuel im running - 98 blyfri (in norway) ~ 93 octane in the US

If someone has a setup for this or a similar setup i would like to take a look at it so i can see what changes i have to do to my own map

I have added a log-file from my first run with the basemap.
Log_first_roadrun_90MX5.xls

I'd remove the AFPR, it adds a level of complexity your don't want to mess with. Some guys use them in conjunction with a full control ECU, but for a stock pulley JSRC, I'd remove it. If you ever want to turn up the boost, a set of larger injectors will be needed anyways. Pull the AFPR out and tune without it. The stock injectors will do fine for the stock 6-7psi the JSRC runs at. But keep an eye out in the classifieds for a used set of larger injectors.

Ok, I'll remove the afpr. I have some urs4 2.2t injectors somewhere - guess i could use those.

Bosch 0 280 150 951
280 cc/ min @ 3.0 bar
315 cc/ min @ 3.8 bar
323 cc/ min @ 4.0 bar
361 cc/ min @ 5.0 bar

Would give a bit more fuel than std injectors.

I was out running some autotune runs, and did see the fueltable change quite a bit. After 3 various runs - city, low speed, high speed, various RPM ranges etc i looked over the different tables and burned in the last one. After i burned the last settings to the ecu i ran the car a bit harder and it goes very smooth. I see my boost is back also - before with AFPR and stock ecu i got 3-4psi at most (couldnt find any boost leak.) and the AFM.
Now i have 8psi at most, wich is a doubling in boost and it feels very smooth and good when it boosts also. I can tell the timing is a bit off, but i dont want to fiddle with the engine timing yet. Im going to install the bigger injectors and do some more runs.

Anything i need to think of when going from stock 1990 1.6liter mx5 injectors to my 2.2l turbo i5 audi injectors @ 280cc/min ? Any settings i need to change?

Im very glad for the help i can get

keeping the AFPR doesn't really add any sort of complexity, and it will allow you to support your power outputs wihtout needing the fit larger injectors at the moment...

but what is the help you acutally need?

Im trying to tune the car as well as i can without going to a professional tuner atm.

I have never tried a programable-ecu before so its kinda try and fail for now, have read a bit on the internet and is starting go catch up. But im not there yet.

Have been reading up on the fuel table stuff and is beginning to understand the basics of it and what it does.

Over to the problems i see myself getting in to:
- For now i get a cutting when boosting max pressure ~8psi , this is not all the time just got it a couple of times and its not at full rpm. I get it at about 3500-5500rpm and feels like fuelcut or ignition cut. But all seems ok. I would think its the lack of fuel at a high gear when the psi begins to rise. So i hope the new injectors will make a bit more room for tuning.

And its over to the timing - i only use stock firmware timing for now (90-93 mx5 noAFM) and im hoping to get some info on what area i should put the timing from you guys in here. Alot of the members here have FI and i guess someone has some similar setup as me that maybe can point me in the right direction

I am also looking for a good AFR table for this type of FI on a similar setup. A peek on what others are running on their cars.

did you check your over-boost protection settings? you may need to raise the limit.

No i did not actually:S I have reinstalled the JRSC AFPR just to boost some fuel atm - running a bit more fuelpressure.

I have to see over the boost protection settings. Thank you for that tip

Im having some questions about timing on my sc engine, how should i set the timing on my car with my mods? Im not out for the optimal timing, just a bit better than the very safe MS PNP map that came with it. How would you guys set the timing? Its like 18degrees BTDC now on idle. Was like 8degrees before with the oem ecu.
