Default Almost there with the MSPNP II

Finally got the MSPNP 2 ver.3 running on my stock car!

It has a few minor issues, when I set it up for static ignition the car would run fine. Although the instructions state not to do so. The MSPNP II would respond almost exactly as a stock one. Below I posted a few issues that I have once I went from Static to Use Ignition Table.

The powerband at the top from 3000 to 6000 is very smooth and consistent. The strange thing is when I am on 5th gear and the speed is at 40 mph, and rev the car it will not do anything, the needle stays down. I have to lower the gear, 3rd or 4th, and then pressing the accelerator pedal it will rev the engine.

If I have the engine on neutral and rev it, it will most of the time like have a delay, like no signal is going to the ECU. Or if it revs it will stutter, and once it is past the stutter show a clean rev. The same when coming out of 1st gear, and pressing the accelerator, it will have a slight delay and then push the car forward, and the same thing with all subsequent shifting points if it is in the 2000- 3000 rpms. Going all out is not noticeable because it is far out of the 2/3 mapping.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Check into Acceleration Enrichments.

BTW - What exactly is a MSPNP II? MSPNP with a MS II daughter board? DIYPNP?

Default PNP Enrichment settings

Bought it from Lex, Stratified Auto, MSPNP II Extra v.3.1.0, or something close to those numbers.

What I do not understand is why when I had fixed spark advance it worked like a charm, and once it when with "use table" thats when problems started with the stalling symptoms under desaccel.

Looks like you have an MS II.

What year car?

Who did the install?

Have you set your timing correctly?

Do you have a wideband installed?

Burn a log file and post it here. When the issue happens, hit the space bar to create a marker in the log file to denote where the issue occurs.

What kind of car is this? I don't see how a Miata would run with a req fuel of 19.6 and spark mode basic trigger, and you can't run sequential fuel with basic trigger.

Also, if it didn't come from DIYAutoTune.com, it's not a MSPNP.

Or from their highly-respected resellers.

MS Plug and Play

His name is Alex, he sold me the Megasquirt PNP.

Model: MSPNP_ND64_BP_NOVTPS

I did the install
Yes, did the timing correctly
No wideband, just narrow band

It is for a Ford Escort GT, has the same engine 1.8 dohc as the Miata. Only difference is the ignition system. I prefer visiting these forums for the the wealth of knowledge compared to other Ford / Mazda sites even if it is the same platform.

For now I dont want to do any extreme tuning, just be able to get the engine running properly. It is a stock engine, no I/H/E, no bolt ons.

just because the part number says MSPNP, doesn't mean it's an offical Diyautotune mspnp and/or diypnp.

Its been built and designed by Stratified to directly compete with Diyautotune, a site supporter, and they obviously have really shitty base maps.

The only thing it has in common with the DIYPNP is that it shares the same microsquirt module inside.

no you dont visit the other sites because ive banned you from as many as i could for your jackassedness...

your going to need to tune it, and your going to need a wideband.

lex's maps were/are way conservative, and not scaled for a N/A motor. if your on stock injectors im sure REQ_FUEL should be set to 11.7~

if you have a stock car and want it to run like stock and not do alot of tuning...use the stock ecu?!?!?

We had several conversations with Stratified over what constituted an acceptable name for their ECU. This was precisely the sort of confusion we wished to avoid.

This is Alex from SA. First of all, I apologize for all this confusion. MSPNP_ND64_BP_NOVTPS is our model number, not the name of the product as we have discussed with DIY.

The product is named: 1991-95 Ford Escort GT (BP Powered) PNP Standalone ECU

We have been providing full plug and play systems for many years now to many Mazda and Ford vehicles. The units are setup with a base map for the BP in a FWD configuration in this case. Fully assembled, built, with firmware and base map loaded before being shipped to the customer.

Luis' unit here is no different, perfectly functioning and tested. It is not associated to a DIY product, and it does come with a full set of instructions and software required. All Luis had to do is set the base timing as outlined in the instructions and install TunerStudio.

He chose to not do this without understanding what he was doing and has further frantically created threads without really knowing what questions to ask. I have personally been providing support to allow his Ford Escort GT to run and was not aware of these threads. Our support and warranty INCLUDED with the product extends to where the customer's vehicle is idling and drivable which Luis' car certainly is.

I have no issues with Luis asking for further support, but the frantic nature of these threads and the responses here indicate that our product is being misrepresented. Please refrain from passing judgment on a product you have not purchased nor used and Luis if there are any defects with the unit we have shipped you, we are always more than happy to address them.

Cheers,
Alex

That's perfectly fine with me. I was just demonstrating what product the OP purchased and the available documentation. I doubt Miata drivers would be too interested in a Ford Escort setup.

MD 323, I never ever asked any standalone questions in other forums.

Your other site is not made out of gold unfortunately, opening a new account and/or simply checking the electronic section is all I need to do to get info in your other site.

It takes two seconds to open a new account, go with the flow of newbie postings and then start asking questions, and pray not to get flamed by some jackass member from your site.

Here, no matter how lost I may seem, or ridiculous as the questions are, members tend to be more friendly AND I dont even donate compared to the other one which I lost $15.00 for been flamed.

My question was based that I like stated; that the car ran fine with fixed ignition, but once I changed to use table it all got fucked up, without changing anything else.
Why open a thread on a Miata forum, application at the end of the day is the same, ignition, timing, accel enrichment, crank pulse, ve tables.

No worries, I will start from scratch once again, and dial the ECU almost like stock.

MD 323, 11.7 with 1.8 dohc injectors, I dont know the factory cc.

The reason I want to learn with a stock car, is I have a turbocharged Mazda with BP that I am re-building which I will later install the megasquirt.

Friends do not worry, I printed:

- Direct Ignition Coil Control
-MS-1 Basic Configuration
- MS-1 Extra Software
- MS2 Extra Tuning Guide
- MS2 Extra Ignition Hardware Manual
- MS2 Extra General Ignition Manual
- MS2 Extra Tuning Manual
- MS2 Extra Quick Guide to Tuning and Using Megatune
and of course
- Stratified MSPNP ND64 (and yes that is the name of the manual)
Plug and Play Electronic Fuel Injection System Installation Guide

I am just reading to familiarize myself with the lingual of the different terms. Little by little everything starts to click (well hope so).
