Default Setting base timing MS3

I'm confused with setting base timing as all instructions have to do with it refer to a stock ECU.

The part I get confused with is jumping the diagnostic module with a jumper pin to get the ECU to enter diagnostic mode. Since an MS3 is installed, does this step still apply? Can I just make my idle constant and then go at it with the light?

Thanks in advanced.

No. Set the fixed angle to 10 degrees and adjust trigger angle until the timing is at 10.

Yeah, my problem is that my RPMs oscillate at 820-850 which makes the notches look like their both at either 10 or 11 on the measure. Not sure If I should even bother as it could be 10 already.. Although it looks more like 11.. Anyone else experience this problem?

If the timing is locked at 10 then it shouldn't oscillate.
