I'm squirting, but before I want to go into any details I want to say one thing!

Chad built me a Megasquirt with 4 Bar Map sensor and a neat Plug and Plug Boomslang type harness. All I had to do was installed my RC 550cc Injectors, hookup a 90-97 CAS, a GM IAT and my TechEdge WB and my install was Done.

I went to start the car and it fired right up, and idled at 850rpm after about 20 seconds. (IAC is controlled by stock ECU)

I don't have any install pics or anything as I need to borrow my friends camera and I have to go pickup my girlfriend and take her for dinner.

My old setup was an FMII (BEGI Partnership build) with 4 extra injectors in the intake. I unpluged the extra injectors, but still have them sitting in the manifold (Meth Injection anyone ). I left the rest of the LINK piggy install hooked up for a easy transition at E-Test time, nevermind I may use it for some boost control or water injection stuff.

While doing the install of the injectors I installed my M-Tuned Fuel Rail with Earl's fittings.



I also took a quick Datalog from the Megasquirt before I drove car back into the garage. I plan to do some tuning soon, but want to do it in the evening/night so I can see my laptop screen.

One quick question! My shop manual is at ETD and my crank pulley has 2 marks. Do I set it using the one on the right or left? The one on the left seems more yellowish and it is the one I have used so far.

When running in this config - are you staying out of CELs ? I.e. OBD2 inspection compliant ? (I'm assuming yes ?).

You use both marks. One lines up with zero and one lines up with 10*. You'll see what I mean when you fire it up with the timing light again. Line them both up that way.

Glad to hear it worked out well. Always nice for things to workout that way. Specially considering you've had it sitting around for months waiting to be installed.

Just back from about 1 hour of tuning the cruise and off boost areas of the Map. Couple of initial things I have noticed.

1. Saturated RCeng 550s must flow a bunch more than the RX7 550cc Chad was using. I've had to pull a TON of fuel from the Idle and Cruise Areas of the VE table. In some cases I have pulled 15-20 points of fuel.

2. Maybe it is the M-Tuned Dual Feed Rail which is providing more fuel as it was installed with the 550s.

3. I've upgraded the unit to Hi-Res 10G and I am able to idle the car at 14.8-15.1 at 800rpm. I think Chad mentioned he was stuck at 13.5-13.8 with the RX7 550cc Injectors and the high NB fuel pressure. RCs are easy to control for MS?????

4. I need a new laptop My battery won't last for one second. I had to run it via a booster pack and then charge the booster pack with the Cig lighter otherwise as soon as I shut the car off I would loose the laptop.

5. 90-93 CAS works just fine I have a 94-97 in the garage but never installed it and I am having no issues.

6. Tuning at night is much easier as I can see my laptop.

7. It is nice to have a Wideband display as well as the laptop. This way I can view it when all is good and flip to the laptop when I need to see the VE Table.

Car is tuned quite well now between 14.00-15.5 in the off boost area. A little more tweaking and I will be ready to dip into the boost and then add some timing similar to what Paul runs on his setup. (Been saving his spark table forever)

Quite an easy night tuning the Megasquirt. Keep in mind I have been tuning Standalone ECUs for about 10 years. So far I have played with LINK, TEC II, TEC3, Accel DFI, FJO 341B, Haltech e6k, Hondata s300 and K-Pro and now Megasquirt! I must say that the Hondata products are my favorite, but the MegaTune does remind me a little of Hondata so I am finding it comfortable.

Have you taken a datalog and simply let Megalogviewer analyze it?
Can you say good, ***** on tune in 30 minutes?

If I had to venture a guess I'd say it has nothing to do with the fuel rail. The limitations of the fuel rail come into play up top where max fuel delivery is required.

It might have something to do with timing.

Or like you said, the RC's may just flow better, especially at shorter pulsewidths.

I just use MLV for fuel table tuning. I did not know it did boost tuning...

I use it for tuning fuel in boost. So far I'd say I'm doing pretty well.

Paul - What fuel did you use when you made 300hp? 91 or 94 Octane? I've got the car tuned very well at 8-9 psi and i think it is time to start adding timing and turning up the wick!

OK if that is what he meant, then yes, I do use it for tuning the entire map including the boost portions. I thought he meant one could use it to tune the boost control somehow. Duh...

I too use MLV to tune the entire fuel map. It's pretty much badass.
