it's a 99 TB but you only have a 1.6L connector?

I used the silicone and electrical tap method....

yeah, salvage yards don't like to give that **** away...so they can sell complete harnesses. I'm going to just go back and take some wire cutters...lol.

Since you guys have been messing around with this lately, I've got a question for you. I picked up a TPS201 last night from Autozone, but I don't think it was the right part. The box it came it clearly said Wells TPS201, but the hole was about a 1mm to big in diameter. There were two ears inside the hole where some shaft might engage, but certainly not a Miata TB shaft.

Am I correct in thinking that without modification the TPS201 shouldn't fit on the TB shaft?

Thanks for the Braineak. That really helped. I'm well aware of that FAQ/Post and I know how to search/not be a n00b.

The part that autozone gave me didn't really have anything that I would have been able to file down. Is there another piece that might have fallen out of the box, that slides in to the TPS to grip the TB shaft? Do you guys think the wrong part was in the box?

there should be two little teeth....shave them down to make the shaft fit.

Much more helpful, thank you. I think they did give me the wrong part.

On the one they gave me, the triangular ears in the picture are merely little stubs that don't extend into the shaft hole. I'll head up to autozone and tell the locals how dumb they are.

That would cost more than I paid at autozone anyway.

I am using a Wells TPS 201 as above using the stock TPS meatal base and the connector on the base plate.

I can solder the black orange and green wires to the connector on the stock PTS base plate but don't know what goes where ( ? )

Are the above locations for a stock 1.6 N/A wiring ?

They should be the correct way the for MSPNP to accept it. Those followed Ben's writeup in the MSPNP FAQ page.

Ok I go to "get current" with the TB closed then floor it and click get current.
The numbers are 15 at idle and 167 at WOT. Clicked ok and saved the MSQ but the settings vanished.

Any ideas ?

After you have calibrated you dont see the numbers in there anymore. Right click on one of your gauges and go to Swap to and pick the throttle position gauge. Watch the % as you modulate the throttle. If its calibrated correctly, 0% will be closed, 100% will be WOT.

Great idea! Now, it works at idle but not when I start the car.
I
I fetched the numbers with the switch in acc position, saved it then I stated the car.

Did I wire something wrong ?

another thing is that I had to dissable closed loop idle control because the idle was bouncing up down like crazy... could this be related ?

Thanks
