Default PnP 01-05 MS3 + MS3X

In a similar way as I did the MS2 99-00 and the MS3 99-00 PnP build, I'm in the process of building a MS3 01-05 PnP. Instructions here.
Not quite finished yet, but as you can see, there's no need to cut the MS3 card with the 01-05 connector .
It might not look like it from the pictures, but the white connector sits flush with the side of the case and the endplate fits just fine.
Yes, there's a 22nF capacitor missing in the proto area.
Remarks or additions welcome.

If you had made it to slide into the case, I would be all over it. Saboteur (Tim), did a similar design a couple of months ago. I suggested making it to the size of the case and laying the capacitor down. A trimmer instead of the 48K7 resistor would be nice as well. Unfortunately he went nowhere with the design.
Maybe you could in a next batch?
Btw, what's Q1 for?

you can mount it to the heat sink (when not occupying the spare with a connector) or above the MAP sensor. That's what the two little holes labeled heatsink and diypnp are for, you'd drill out the one you need, I was afraid that the design would get rejected if the drill holes overlapped. But I screwed up the measurements anyways...but all you need is to mount it with one post on the heatsink through the tip125 hole. I have pics, just not uploaded.

Q1 is a tip125, so that if you use a spare output on TRGR, you can set the RPM point in the which the field out is activated (fout2). A lot of people say they have belt squeal on startup without it as the alternator is charging as you start the car. The stock ECU doesn't start charging until 300RPM. otherwise, you can just use fout1 like normal.

It looks neat now that there are no cables inside.

All of you who build these things for sale amaze me. You sell them for less than I would if I made one for someone. If the finished product was for a BMW/Porsche it wouldn't be any harder to build and the price would be 8x as much, but the price you sell them for makes them available- which drives the growing knowledge base.

So, thanks.

Well, it took me over a year to get started on it, but I did redesign the alternator board so it slides into the case
