Default MS wont run with map sensor connected

I had a lot of problems with my MS, i installed it, uninstalled it numerous times. i guess the last time i put it in the car i forgot to run a vacuum line to the ecu (previously i had run one over the windshield). the car started and idled....ok like that. it was running pig rich though, the smell of gas in the garage was unbearable. so today i went to the garage and ran a line through the firewall and hooked it up to the ecu. the car wont start now. i unhooked the line and the car ran again.

any ideas?

Can you post a log of trying to start it with the vac line plugged in?

You have your megatune / tunerstudio set to the right size map sensor?

That's a good idea, I'll check.

Did you alter the tune when you had the map line uninstalled?

Chances are your tune is too lean, as unplugging the MAP sensor adds more fuel.

my car is pretty much bone stock, and afaik is running the mspnp base tune. what made me initially realize the MAP sensor was unhooked was the car running pig rich.

Confirm this - don't go by AFAIKs.

I looked in tunerstudio. I see a currenttune.msq, how can I be sure that's the right tune?

I'd reload the MSPNP base map.

Thanks Matt, I'll give that a try.

I tried to pull a log, but when I opened it in megalog viewer it was blank. I don't know what I did wrong...

bit of an update, i tried the mspnp base map, but it's for a MS1, i have an MS2. had a ton of errors when i flashed it to the ECU, the car still wouldn't start, so i went back to the original tune braineack had on the ecu when i got it. i pulled the plugs, and they were BLACK, looked like they were made of velvet. i replaced them, and now the car will fire, but it just sputters, and dies within a few seconds. if i tap the throttle lightly i can keep it alive a little bit longer, not much though. too much gas and it dies immediately.

i searched and read quite a few threads, and am thinking maybe the colder weather has something to do with it. i'm going to try to read more about the cold cranking settings, and give that a try.

you should try the diypnp startup map instead the MSPNP maps
Its a MS2 tuned map
if you were to, note they used different settings in some places.
You need to alter fuel and timing to get a stable idle, if you know your spark timing is correctly aligned with your crank than I say let it work off the spark map like at 17
But you can try adjusting your fuel while you hold the throttle open a tad to dial in it till it picks up and idles without holding the throttle open.

Also

allways datalog anything you do while trying to work on it so everyone can see and you show someone if you have issues

made a little more progress today. i adjusted the ASE, and was able to get it to run for more than a few seconds at a time. it doesnt run well though, i think it's only running on two cylinders. i'm afraid i might have lost a coil pack somewhere along the way.

can someone tell me why when i try to pull a log, it ends up blank in megalog viewer? when i try to open the log it says something about the y axis...
