Default New to MegaSquirt

Hello All,

I have a few questions regarding the MegaSquirt

I have a JR supercharged Miata and am wondering which version of the MS you would recommend. Right now I am using a Bipes to control timing and a Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator for additional fuel. The Car is a 1993.

I intend to have the plug n play mod done to my stock ecu(kingofl337). Is that a good idea?

Would it be wise to use the MS just for fueling until I am comfortable, then move on to timing?

Do I need to buy a wideband, or could I borrow a friend's until I achieve a good tune?

How do I go about eliminating the stock AFM? What additional parts will I need?

In general, if I buy the MS and pnp mod, what else will I need to buy? I intend to buy most everything from diyautotune.com

Thanks, Bill

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this. Do you mean that you will be getting a MS and then buying kingofl337's PNP wiring harness adapter? If that is what you are referring to then I would suggest that you buy the complete MS from kingofl337 as he will have already done the required board mods.

If you buy the whole kit from kingofl337 then it will already come with all of the mods and the .msq for you to run spark straight away. So you may as well do it.

If you buy the whole kit from kingofl337 then it will already come with a pretty well tuned .msq. So all you would need to do is get your final tuning done on a dyno and you won't need to buy a wideband O2 sensor.

To elimenate the AFM you will need to run a wire from the Fuel Pump terminal on the DB37 connector to the light green wire from COR located under the steering wheel hub in order to have the MS control the fuel pump (or you can jumper Fc to E1 on the AFM connector). You will also need to get a new AIT as the factory temp sensor is located in the AFM.

Getting the GM temp sensors would be an excellent idea. That way you will have the proper readings for AIT and CLT instead of some potentially dodgy estimates.

Default Which version

Thanks for the reply,

What version of the MS would you recommend?

There are two versions of the MS 1 and also the MS 2 listed on DIYautotune.com

Thanks again, Bill

+1 for getting the GM sensors. Using the Mazda CLT, it was off by about 20° (low)

The stock CLT is only as right as you set up Easytherm to be.

CLT, IAT, CAS I remember when those were foreign terms. Just read all you can here and the MegaManual and it will become clearer.
