Default Car won't start (no fuel?)

After work I started the car, let it idle for a couple minutes then drove into the shop. I shut it off, bled the brakes like I had planned. Went to start the car and leave, and it just cranks and cranks.

- Plugs are clean
- All fuses are ok
- Fuel pump is running
- timing jumps around when cranking, so it must have spark
- Injector duty cycle, etc stay at zero.

Seems to me like the injectors refuse to work. Any ideas?

Check the connection to the CAS?

That's what I thought. I replaced that connector when I put the engine back in, but all wiring was done correctly, and the car ran fine up until I shut it off. I unplugged the connector to the fuel injecting harness and made sure it snapped back in. Still nothing.

Post log and MSQ?

The injectors are powered off the same white/red wire (from the INJ fuse via the main relay) as the ECU itself, so if the MS is on, you've got power to the injectors. Besides, if the MS is indicating zero duty cycle, that more or less rules out a fault with the injectors themselves, or the supply to them. (MT would show you injector duty cycle even with the injectors unplugged.)

Do you get an RPM indication in MegaTune while cranking?

Is it possible that the TPS signal is stuck high, initiating flood-clear mode?

Well, that's just it. I haven't had an RPM signal in MS since I installed it. Wonder if that has something to do with it... I am away from the car right now, I plan on going over it for a couple hours tomorrow. Don't want to spend my whole weekend at the shop.

You mean that on the MegaTune screen, you typically see no RPM indication even when the engine is running?

Uhm...

(never seen anything like this before...)

Is MegaTune set to "Offline" by any chance? (Under File -> Offline)

Mine recently did this as well, mine is also a Braineack build that I reflashed.

You're not using Vista by chance are you?

No RPM signal what so ever. And the program is running online.

My laptop is running Windows XP.

Try something: *not responsible for damage, or any reflashing you may have to do

Check your project folder, and see if you have a file called msns_extra.ini.

I deleted this in both the MS directory, and my project folder, and all my problems magically went away.

EDIT: This is assuming the car ran without RPM on your GUI gauge beforehand.

If Megatune tach was there before, and is no longer, then it's a different situation.

Have you done any succesful datalogging/VE analysis?

I don't have that file.

I was planning on doing my first datalog last night on the way home. Never got to it because of this problem. If I turn the key completely off, then try to start it again, it tries to start for a second, then just continues cranking.

Do you smell fuel? Also looks like you've already swapped the injectors...changed cranking pulse width yet?

The MS should have been sent to me with all corrections for the 460's already made. The car was running great up until I shut it off last night. I don't smell fuel at all. The pump is running and I can hear the fuel moving through the lines up front.

Was thinking it might be too rich. Mine wouldn't idle at all after I swapped injectors.

It's starting to sound like you're just not getting rpm signal from the CAS, but if you've NEVER had the tach in MT working, I would run through the Braineack install directions again.

I had a lot of problems (OS related) where I would connect one time, and the car would run great, then connect again, and it would burn some values that were different, and run like crap. This was mainly due to EasyTherm not running on mine, so I had to flash it with one laptop, and tried tuning with another.

I just swapped out the ignitor and nothing changed. Pulled a plug, reattached it to the plug wire and turned the car over. No spark. That same plug I pulled last night that was dry, is slightly wet and black as hell. I'm going to swap out the CAS and see what happens.

- CAS : Changed
- Coils : Changed
- Ignitor: Changed

Still won't start. My wiring job on the new CAS connector is still all ok. Thinking something went goofy in the MS somewhere. Unless anyone has any better ideas.

Anyone have a 1.6 map, using a 2560 and RX7 460's they don't mind sharing?

Edit: I'm going to back away for now and any other suggestions I will make a list and try again on Monday.

I would just reflash and start over...

I had to do it three times before I got it right. I'm just dumb like that.

I'm still struggling with how it ever ran at all without showing you an RPM indication in Megatune.

Again, can we see a log of a starting attempt? And perhaps an older of log it actually running? And your current MSQ?

I'm not sure how it ran, but it's never had an RPM signal at all. Never thought it was a big deal. I don't have any logs, but here is the msq. Don't laugh if it is something simple, still a newb at this.

I didn't read this whole thread but Yes, the car will not start if there is no fuel.
