Default Pops and Bangs on initial startup

Hi, Very happy to be at this point now as I tried starting the car this evening. I can't get much more than a few pops and bangs - seems like backfires so I'm wondering if my timing could be to blame. Newbie - so go easy I've not done this before - I've attached my Data log. Rpms are synced nicely.

1994 block, 1.8 with 2003 VVT head
MS3X with 36-2 crank, VVT cam sensor
LS2 coils sequential run from MS3X
Batch injection run from main, stock 265cc miata injectors

Thanks for ideas on what to try next.

typical that means too much fuel, but it typically also doesn't start when it's flooding like that.

I dunno what are you showing in that log, it's like 4 secs long.

Yup, couldn't get it to "run" much longer than that... I think my spark may be too advanced (was 20deg @ 750rpm) and then too retarded at higher loads so I've tweaked that. Battery was also getting a little tired last night and I heard that might mess some things up too...

I checked spark on #1 but not the others so I should also verify I'm getting all 4 working...Lots to do...Thanks for your help !

Default Better but still not great

OK, so I checked all sparks - look nice. Running sequential so can't test individual injectors. Revised timing and managed to coax the car to run while blipping the throttle - so I have a couple of log longer than 10 secs now....also adjust VE table to remove some fuel, but noticed AFR was in the low 20s at 2000rpm, so I think more work to do here....Anyhow, here are the new logs and new basemap.

Car is still popping and running really rough - almost like a misfire....I'd be grateful for any wisdom anyone wanted to share.

Gasp - just realized I've been running with "fixed timing" set - my spark is at 10 deg - no wonder it runz like crap ! - OK, that's embrasing
