I just got a eeepc which happens to be awesome for tuning. I'm running Ubuntu on it, and I love Megatunix. The issue is all of my old files were msq's made with Megatune, so I had to make a new file for my car. Of course, I messed something up and now it won't start. I've checked all the settings and everything looks good in Megatunix. Do ya'll know of any way to convert between the *.ecu file Megatunix makes and the *.msq file Megatune makes? If not is there any one out there who has working *.ecu file for a miata?
Yes I am where its cold and cold start is likely the issue, but I would still like to be able to convert back and forth and have a known good .ecu file.
IMHO, you should put XP on it. I have xp on my eeepc and I love it. I've just heard too many horror stories about megatunix. However, I don't have any first hand experience. Also, this post isn't really helpful. Sorry.
XP is alright, but I'm an engineer. I like having the control that linux allows me. I'm running a version of Ubuntu called easy peasy which is specifically packaged for netbooks. Everything has run great so far. I can actually run megatune through wine, but I still need to get the com port emulation working before I can really use it.
Megatunix works, and I personally like the interface a whole lot more. Hopefully this weekend it will warm up a bit, and I will be able to get the car running again.
I just decided to try megatunix when I accidentally deleted all of my old .msq files and datalogs. I have one .ecu that I recently took off my MS but this forum won't let me upload ecu files. I'm new to Linux so let's see if I can figure out how to zip it or something.
Ok, I made a zip file. I have no idea if it will work but I hope it does.
FWIW, this hi-res file is for a 1.8 with 460cc injectors. And a turbo. I don't own a 1.6 so I have no idea what kind of changes you'll need to make to this file before the car will run, but it might be a start anyway. I haven't had the car tuned on a dyno yet so the spark table is still probably on the conservative side but the fuel is pretty well dialed in for me.
Thanks man. I actually did get it running again. I gave up and found an XP laptop and just put the PNP map on it. Fired right up first time. I was then able to read the values off teh ECU and make a MSPNP *.ecu file.
So if anyone needs it, I do have the 90-93 no AFM MSPNP MSQ in the megatunix *.ecu format.
If you want compatibility with msq files I would suggest TunerStudio. It's interface is much like Megatune and supports all the same files. I personally tend to go back and forth between TunerStudio and Megatunix.
If you decide to try TunerStudio and need help installing it send me a PM.
For people who are coming from Megatune, they will find the interface very familiar. I personally like the tuning much better than Megatune or Megatunix. It gives a dot to pinpoint where it is getting its value from on the spark and VE tables instead of changing is color.
