Default More problems. Engine flooded!

I thought everything was all good so I went to wire up the MS. I tried to start it and it keeps flooding the engine. I have no idea what's going on with it!

Also the two led light on the MS no longer come on unless I do somethin like step on the gas. All I have to do is turn the key to the 'ON' position and it starts flooding the engine like the injectors are wide open!

I can no longer connect to MS I get a annoying popup that says cannot connect to controller when I try to burn to the MS.

Holy crap dude, you have issues. You need to first empty your engine by removing your spark plugs, unplugging the fuel pump, and cranking the engine briefly. Than with the fuel pump still unplugged, crank the engine with a plug in the spark plug wire, grounded to the head, to ensure you have spark on all four cylinders. Those LED's should be your two spark outputs, unless you changed their functions. I'd try using easytherm to see if you can connect to the MS, and if you can reload your firmware. I had a couple wiring issues including switching one of the four grounds with one of the four 5v trigger wires and it corrupted my firmware and/or .msq. Wouldn't start start, lots of popping, and some flooding. After I reloaded the firmware and my msq, everything worked great.

that's a lot of work....how about just tuning your cranking settings.

No matter what I do it keeps holding the injectors open! I erased the MS using Easytherm then I doanloaded MSpnp base tune and megatune all over. I've searched the net for answers and tried their suggestions from other peoples threads with similar problems and NOTHING WORKS!!! it just keeps flooding it! :(

I've been working on it all day and this is pissing me off! grrr

You should check your db37 connector w/ a multimeter and make sure that pins aren't touching. Also while you are still doing your initial programming, turn you priming pulse off. See if that helps.

wow.. that sounds almost exactly like the problems I have with my MSPNP. If you got your old ECU, you could just plug it back in and see if it starts after you unflood your engine. That way atleast you know if it still doesn't fire, its not your MS and you did something that would cause the coil packs to blow.

Can you still communicate with your laptop with your Megasquirt? Did you try jumping the boot and reloading the firmware?

I hope you'll figure out the problem...I have to send mine in for repairs. Thats what you get for buying a second..third hand MS for cheapsies.

that's what was happening to me last year about this time. someone finally gave me an idea on what to check and i got it going. i don't know if it's the same as my old **** (i have a link) but mine was just a ground to one of the sensors. as soon as i would turn the key forward it would just start filling up the combustion chambers with fuel. i even sent my injectors to be cleaned and tested, thought they might be stuck.

Yes it still runs with the stock ecu.

I did jump the boot and reloaded firmware.

What ground was it?

I have 430cc supra injectors.

When I wire this thing in I should have the fuel injector wires cut away from the stock ecu so those wires are only connected to MS right?

Also my loptop 'cannot connect to controller' after the MS is wired in. I can only change burn to the MS when I disconnect it from the harness.

If I have the VREF wire connected it floods the engine and will not let me burn to MS. If I DO NOT have it connected I can burn to MS and it doesn't flood the engine and megatune shows me all my info now. However it will not start. What's going on with that wire?

and you're using the MSPNP basemap for 230cc injectors and wondering why when you injector almost twice as much fuel during cranking it floods the motor?

the vref wire it a 5 volt power source, that's it. what do you have it connected to? if you followed my diagram for a 90-93 install and didnt read my instructions that say you must unplug the factory TPS, then that will happen.

Thanks, I'll try it. There is a lot of info to sort through, it's hard not to miss something.

Well I was wondering why it floods the engine before I even crank the engine. Those 430cc injectors were running with my stock ECU with the fuel pressure turned down I have an adjustable FPR. So it should work with the stock MS map I would think.

I have everything wired exactly as your diagram shows. The Vref wire is connected to the red wire on the oem harness. On the smaller clip looking at the side where all the wires come out. It's on the bottom row five spots from the left the wire is red.

I did cut the wires as the diagram shows. So now those wires that were cut are now dedicated to the MS. The stock ECU is no longer connected to those wiresor anything else. I hope that is correct.

Now we're getting somewhere! It didn't start but it didn't flood either! It cranked fine and megatune looks ok. Maybe it's the trigger angle?

EDIT: In the Sprak settings, if I try to click burn to ecu it does absolutely nothing? Shouldn't it close that window when it's done?

In my experience if you click burn to ecu it doesn't close the window. However you can check if the ms took it by hitting burn, changing some of the values on screen and then hit fetch.
The settings should go back to what you had programmed in.

As far as not starting, are you getting spark at all? Take one of the spark plugs out, plug it back in to the wire, set it on top of the engine with the threading touching the valve cover and crank the engine over.
You should see a spark. If you do then your timing is prob. off.

Also, does it fire at all or does it just crank only?

No it won't close. Once the car is running, burning the settings will make it skip a beat, and you'll hear it at idle, that's how I know I pushed the button and it's still communicating correctly. Whats your required fuel? Should be 7.2 for 1.6, 8.1 for 1.8
