Angry Problem nigth before instalation

Well I'm already completed my MS and the harnesses (boomslang)

I also mod tach input, spark output and EBC with no problems at all.

Last nigth (very late) I decided to do three more mods.
1.- Remove R7
2.- Capacitor between JS8 and Ground
3.- Fan Mod

After that, I conected the megastim but I canīt see diodes ligth up.

I check the conections again then and plug all again, then I see white smoke coming from the IAT potentiometer from the megastim!

I hope my MS is not damaged, but I am concern about it. If the MS fried the potentiometer maybe will be burn someting in my car.

well, any one have a idea what mod can be wrong.?

PD: I use a transformer to bring power to the megastim

Was the transformer providing too much voltage for the stim and MS to handle? Did you check it's output before using it?

Tranformer is set at 9V. I checked many time ago (when start soldering).
I will measuring the output to nigth and post the voltage.
I suspect that maybe one of the last mods could be the cause.
By the way, I remember that when I plug the Megastim to the MS, the ligths eventualy tend stop to blinking. ŋweird not?

R4 needs to be a 200ohm 1watt resistor. but yeah, iirc, if the MS hasn't been flashed the light will all cut out without firmware.

1.- What do you mean Braineack?.
Megastim (2.2) have 10k, žW resistor , and the megasquirt (V3) 2.49K žW resistor?. I have to modify both? which?

2.- Braineack, I found you post after start soldering so I have many "extra" pieces.
U7
Q4, Q20, Q23, Q22
C12, C30, C31, C32
R42, R44, R45, R46, R49, R53, R54, R55, R56, R57.
should I remove them.?

3.-cjernigan, the transformer is rated:
- 6W power
- 3, 4, 5 ,6 ,7.5, 9, 12 V output
- DC 500mA MAX.
- made in china.

Found 13,82V in the 9V with the stim conected so I move to the 6V slot to reach 9,36V.

Got the problem!
I check everything and try to test again, but notice that I conected "not well" MS and stim (every pin are displaced to the rigth so I left two pin unpluged). I guess that is happend yesterday. now plug correctly and all works ok. no smoke .

thanks for your time brianeck and cjernigan.

the stim; to show RPMs after the miata tach input mod.

extra stuff is the VR circuit which we don't use, hell 1/2 the board is just the flyback circuit for PWM injectors. leave it. but remove r57.

ok , removing and changing resitors.
thanks!

- Remove R57.
- change R4 on megastim (well, put two 470 ohm in parallel so I have 235Ohm).
- take Al Hounos file, burn and change required fuel.

now RPM is zero always. (with megastim)

ŋany ideas.?(I have megastim v2.2)

Don't use Al Hounos file.
Modify the MSPNP files, they are known to be working correctly with the mods you have done to the board.
As for the resistors on the stim, you want 200 ohm not 2 some odd thousand ohms. You should be using two 1 watt 100 ohm resistors in series or one 200 ohm resistor on it's own. With resistance that high that would be why you're not getting any rpm. Once you have the right resistors installed turn on stim for wheel. Just make sure to turn it off before trying the MS in the car.
Can you post pictures of the mods you made to the board?

- Sorry is 235 ohm, not 2350 ohm. I need to chage it to 200?.
- I will try with MSPNP file instead of Al Hounos. (al hunos have the same injectors maybe I can use the VE table ŋnot?
- Were I can find the easy term values for a 97 miata GM IAT, mazda CLT?
- The only variation of the ignition mods, is one cable of the fan mod. All things are like the picture of braineack.

many thanks

235 is probably close enough. Just leave the VE tables alone. Change the req fuel and cranking PWs for your injectors and disable acceleration enrichments right off the bat until you get the car running well.
Use the same resistance curve values that everyone else is using and use like 1540 for the bias resistance value. The IAT sensor bias could be a little tricky depending on how you have the IAT wired. Does it have it's own wire straight to the MS or did you tap it into the stock harness? The bias for that would be determined by how you wired it up. If you ran it's own wire just use 2490.

I want to follow braineack manual instructions (harness MAF sensor).
I will use RX-7 + 1450 bias for CLT and GM + ??? bias. which value should I use?

Can you explain this a little "turn on stim for wheel"? and "Just make sure to turn it off before trying the MS "
thank you very much.!

Bonus.!!!
Ghetto boomslang harnesses

Problem nigth before instalation-ghetto.jpg

Still without getting RPM signal with megastim. and no CLT response
- IDL and IG leds on. (megastim)
- Leds 14 and 13 on. (megasquirt).

Is convinient just install and start the car ? or I must replace resistances of R4 (from 235 to 200 ohm) and wait until get RPM from megastim, before try on the car?

Solved most of the problems.
- I canīt burn from easy therm (program crash) so I change the name of the file and use "download-firmware.bat"
- The RPM is missing because the wheel decoder is activated (when I burn MSPNP msq) on my MS. now I can see RPM.
- I'm setting all to my injector size and only left calibrate LC-1 signal and sensor.

...TONIGHT, I WILL TURN THE KEY ...

I' m squirting.!!!!
Is terrible rich (I folow MSPNP advice and change 14.7 for 13.2). I can start the engine three times!. thatīs imposible with my old configuration (I used to unplug injectors in order to start again (ECU can't control 460cc)).

The only problem... CLT reads 32°C before start engine, with the car one week parked at 14-18°C. I have to re-check easytherm procedure. AIT reads 16°C, I suposed it is rigth.
Any hint about CLT sensor settings will be very apreciated (bias scale etc (I have R7 removed)).

Tanx for everything guys!!
