Ok I decided to use my boomslang harness and cut off the emu harnesses and wire in the MS harness in place. I have everything wired u fine but the one thing im confused about is the cas, and cam. According to the 2nd page of Kags install guide there is a CAS, CAM, and RPM signal coming from the enginebay harness. Which do I use and what pins do they go into?
go there and follow those instructions. Kags has not even confirmed his working so dont take his info for gospel. I followed Kags installation and had problems which were fixed by following the DIY instructions.
Anyway, for Tach input you have two of them"
Quote:
The Primary tach input (CKP) (Reported to be White on Miatas) is connected to pin 24 on the MegaSquirt's DB37
The Secondary tach input (CMP) (Reported to be Yellow on Miatas) is connected to pin 25 on the MegaSquirt's DB37
follow that and with the board mods being the same as they show, you will get an rpm signal if your board is assembled properly.
Edit: I just thought I should mention that there is a discrepency between the board modifications on Kags thread and the diyautotune instructions. I followed the latter with success.

Ok I have rpm signal, and injectors functioning. Now my problem is ignition. I have my MS wired EXACTLY as in DIYautotune's article. I get no volts on pin 36 or 31 though. I was thinking about rewiring it like kingofl337's thread but im confused by the coil a and b output. Do I just solder a wire from those points to one of the pins on the db37 connector? Could I just solder a wire from those points to pin 37 and 31 respectively?
Well I went ahead and combined both aussiedriver's and kingofl337's instructions and got spark output working. I made an updated picture to show where to wire the coil outputs to since it originally confused me. Maybe it will help someone else in the future. You also have to remove Q6 and Q8 that are circled in red on the picture. This worked right out the gate for me, while diyautotune's method did not work at all for me.
Now my problem is that the car runs pretty rough. I'm using kingofl337's miata 1.6 msq file. At idle it stumbles and the car shakes some. If I give it gas it sounds sort of like its backfiring. I'm not too great at describing sounds.... I tried to go forward in 1st and when I started letting out the clutch and put load on the car it stalled. I had to get a friend to help me push it back into my parking spot. Any ideas what my problems might be, what to look for. Should I cut into the stock o2 sensor? I dont have any of my turbo stuff installed yet so I havent installed my wideband. I wanted to have the MS running well on the car stock before I installed the turbo so I wouldnt have too many problems. Any help would be appreciated.
