Default MS2E startup issues

I have my MS2E installed, GM IAT installed, MTX-L installed, timing light hooked up, two un-pinned fire extinguishers at the ready.

I loaded the file Dimitris sent with the MS for firmware, but then when I went online, it told me that stuff didn't match between TunerStudio and the MS unit, and it wanted me to update the firmware, which I did. Calibrated TPS.

Coolant temp sensor and IAT are both reading ambient (75F here right now)

When I crank the car, it cranks and it sounded like it ALMOST wanted to start at one point, chugged a bit, and then went back to cranking. I tried giving it a bit of gas, and it once again sounded super close to starting up, and then went back to cranking.

I have my timing set fixed at 10 to set my base timing, and the cranking advance is set to 4.

I know that getting the car started the first time, and setting idle, can be one of the trickiest things of MS, but wtf should i try first to get it going?

I don't want to just give it more gas and then flood the engine.. but it seems a bit like more gas is what it needs..

Are there any other settings that I need to change right off the bat to get the car going? There isn't anything in the instructions dimitris sent..

I have that Performance Fuel Injection System book that the guys from DIY wrote, and it says to unplug the injectors (or set pulse width to 0.01s) so you don't flood the engine, and to check the timing while cranking, so I think that will probably be my first step.. Any other ideas?

Ok, so the car fired up, (didn't really change anything, just let it sit, maybe it was flooded), and i'm setting my base timing now, but the car dies immediately if I change the ignition offset angle at all.

EDIT: Ok, it's just acting strange in general. Sometimes the car will fire *RIGHT* up, and sometimes it will just crank and crank and crank.

Car is warmed up now, so I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Two and a half questions:

1) got it fixed.

2) It seems obvious to me that there's something goofy with one of my startup settings.. but what can I try changing to get it to start up more reliably? the car runs GREAT once it fires up, but it doesn't like to start up..

Ignore everything. Apparently the old adage of "try turning it off and back on again" works wonders here.
