I just loaded it up. I was on a 1.5 alpha though so no issues at all.

Here is my VSS settings. I've changed the wheel dia around a bit and for the life of me I can't seem to find the gauge in the dashboard. I'm led to think that the speed sensor has died in the ecu. The phsical gauge in front of the steering wheel still works, but even if I set the MPH cutoff in launch control to 3mph it still activates at 60mph indicated.

On another note I ran VEAL to see what it was doing with the tune. I know my AFR targets might not be baller perfect, but VEAL got to a point it wasn't changing much around. Now high rpm and low load it tries to dump loads of fuel and it feels like the ignition, LS coils, is cutting out.

My understanding from Rev is the newer basemaps are not for my firmware

Mine is in a slightly different spot. I set it as a gauge last week and it displayed nothing. I never set it as a gauge before, but the launch control activation issue wasn't happening. I hate to seem so target locked on the launch control part. It just seems like if this thing isn't working than other parts might be wonky as well. I figure if I can figure this out than it may lead to other answers and help others that run into this.

Same place as mine. You sure the Flex input is the right input for VSS?

The firmware update caused the pulses to go from 4000 to 40000. Set it back to 4000. Flex is the correct input for the V2.2 units.

I'm in the initial stages of chasing down a similar problem. Does the 60 mph problem happen if you're just cruising and pass through 60, or does it only happen at WOT?

What's the answer to the basemap issue? I believe I got my MS3 Basic from Rev in 2012.

Thanks,

It isn't a speed thing really. If I accelerate and shift at say 7,000rpm the launch control activates and basically shuts down the engine until the clutch is back up. As long as the rpm is higher then the launch rpm and the clutch is in it is doing the launch control thing. Doesn't care if it is 5mph or 75mph. It makes the initial clutch release lurch the car forward until my fuel/ign comes online.

Thanks Rev. I never noticed the extra zero before. I'll try and see if that fixes it. Now I'm curious what the weird rich VEAL thing is doing. If you suggestions fix it I'll update to 1.5.0 just to make it hard again haha

Take a composite log of the problem happening.

Sorry. A composite of the launch issue or the weird fuel dump issue. Funny thing is the fuel thing feels like what I remember as valve float. Although it doesn't do it really in the throttle during accel. It seems to be load load steady state high rpm

All of the above. Composite logs tell you if either of the trigger sensors are acting up

I pulled from a light in first, shifted into second and floored it. She accelerated and then... lurch, stumble, backfire and check engine light. Do you get the check engine light?

BTW, I hope I'm not thread stealing.

Thanks,

I'm not sure that is the same issue. Mine was only happening during high rpm shifts with launch on. When I turned launch off it went away. It did lead me to think other problems were the culprit not just the launch settings. I'm thinking yours is an all the time e thing correct? Or is it only when launch is turned on in settings?

I don't use launch, so I'm also thinking it's not the same. Good luck!

18psi noted this at the end of his post #122 here on earlier FW: https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...e-83467/page3/

Looks like I'm going to have some "fun" finding other incorrect settings like these when I upgrade :(

It seems changing it to 4000 fixed the launch activation issue. I also got frisky and installed my 36-2 wheel today cause I like to fix a thing right after I fix a thing haha. I won't be around the car for the next week, but it seems to be running on the new trigger wheel. Next weekend I'll try to play with the weird veal rich low throttle thing.

@aidandj Specifically, what does 1.5.0 fix, or do better than, 1.4.1? I'm thinking about getting off the FW update train unless (until) there is a specific advantage.

It added engine states. Global states that control everything. Idle, overrun, etc. It also added AEM can network.

Its not a necessary upgrade. But new things get added all the time.

I understand. What I'm asking is whether or not engine states accomplish their objectives better, or more easily than the old methods. Or do they cause fewer interactions that simplifies tuning?

I guess I'll load it on the MAC and play with it a bit, and decide. I'm just pretty pleased with how things are running, and so often new releases fix some things, but create bugs other places.
